I just had my colposcopy yesterday evening.  My smear last year was hpv and no cell changes, January this year I had hpv and low grade cell changes.  I think something went wrong with my appointment as I had to chase it.  I was so worried that 6 months could have made a difference however the Dr was very reassuring, she referred to hpv as the common cold of the vagina which made me giggle, the team in the room were all lovely and put me at ease with one holding my hand the whole time, the dr said she could not see anything to worry about and has taken a biopsy of what she called a viral infection (you can watch what they are doing on a screen if you want too) I wouldn't say it was painful, a bit of stinging from the liquids and slight pain when the biopsy was taken x
