These past couple of years have been strange times and, as a result, many have delayed getting problems like this checked out. You are doing the right thing, even though it is scary. Even if your small lump is cancerous it is not the end of the world. If it is small, chances are that you have caught it early.  This must be particularly difficult for you when your husband is serving away from home. I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 12 years and, had already lost my mum to breast cancer before I was diagnosed. 

I felt equally as terrified as you, but am pleased to say that since then I have seen my children leave school, go to university, graduate, find gainful employment, marry and give me two wonderful grandchildren. I am fortunate too in that I still live a fulfilled and busy life. Breast cancer is one of the most treatable forms of cancer and, advances are being made all of the time with treatment. Besides, this might not even be breast cancer. Only 1 person in every 8 referred to the breast clinic will receive a cancer diagnosis. It is also worth remembering that not all lumps are cancerous. Many are benign cysts or fibroadenoma..
