Hi.
I am being sent for a ct scan for 2 ovarian cysts that were found on my left ovary. One of these cysts was found via ultrasound in September but was thought to have been a normal cyst that occurs as part of menstrual cycle. It has since doubled in size and a second cyst has grown next to it. The sonographer who scanned them in June via ultrasound thought it was one large chocolate cyst, with a solid calcified element and septation. This was a private scan.
I had CA 125 result come back slightly raised at 80, the doctor found this concerning so I was put on the 2 week pathway. The consultant in hospital rescanned the cysts and said it was 2 dermoid cysts with a solid element in one. He was confident they were not malignant and the next step would be surgery in a few weeks.
However,I have since been referred for a ct scan but no one will tell me why. I am also concerned that they have been diagnosed as 2 different types of cysts. Has anyone had any experience with a ct scan for benign cysts? All information online seems to suggest it is used as a tool for staging ovarian cancer only.
For some context, I have near constant pain with them, and my cycles have become erratic with lots of bleeding. I am 29.
Thanks
