Urgent referral help

I have been looking on line for the urgent referral department at local hospital. The only thing that comes up is the  Macmillan help line.

  • Hi,

I had a phone call last week to go to x-ray the same day. For a specialised ultrasound scan on my liver.

Carbondioxide was intravenously put into my blood so a very clear picture could be seen.

I have a small knot of blood vessels (hemangioma) near the main vessel that feeds the liver with blood.

They have to watch, it due to its placement. Normally it can be left with no worries.

I am back in 3 months for a repeat of the same scan.

At last my endoscopy has been booked for the end of the month.

    Hopefully all will be well

I hope all is well with you. x

  • That sounds good news, a bit like me, my lesion being an abscess, 'probably' with mri in nov/dec. Have a sedation with the endoscope if you can I did and didnt remember anything.

I have been on medication for about a month for the Primary Biliary Cholongitis they found.

I have been getting tummy aches if I eat big meals so that could be down to the gastritis or a bit of diverticuliits they found, so am having to change what i eat. I also sometimes gets bad fatigue, but I'm not sure what that's connected to.

Thanks for messaging, was only thinking of you yesterday.

  • Hi, Thank you for your helpful suggestion.

I forgot to say I also have about 6 or more ulcers on my liver with one being bigger than the rest.

I am gearing myself up for the endoscopy.

The findings of my last endoscopy was a lot of diverticulitis pockets seen in my lower intestines.

At times causing lower tummy pains

I will keep you updated as to the findings.

    Take care x

  • Hi,

I've just recieved an unexpected email from my consultant for my liver. I feel baffled.

I am to have a phone call next Tuesday morning.

I am having the colonoscopy this weekend. I am feeling it will be too soon for those results.

He said I would get my results for both the tests together after the colonoscopy was done. ( liver & colonoscopy)

I just feel its a little soon after the colonoscopy (2 Working week days)

The nurse that gave me the bowel cleanse was surprised as my referral said urgent, that I was just being seen almost 3 months later. Not within the 14 day period.

    Any thoughts pls x

  • I was given a report straight after I had an endoscopy whilst I was still there, I expect its quick results for Colonoscopy as well.

I had my scans and investigations quickly on 2 week referral, literally within 2 weeks and my consultation to discuss 3 weeks after my mri, being the last investigation. Maybe your hospital has a backlog. I'm in Oxfordshire.

Are you still.going to have an MRI as well?

  • Flower you may have been given  a copy of the report, what they found and what they did, it's the norm.

But if you had any biopsies taken , I'm 100% certain you were not given those results, As they have to go to a lab and checked.

  • Oh yes that's true, they dont always take a biopsy, but they can tell.quite alot from the initial endoscopy, I.e I was told they found no cancer straight after the procedure. And I havent heard any further about the biopsy results so presume they didnt show anything.

  • Hello

Sorry to ask but when you say you were told no cancer after thr endoscopy. Was that actually by someone?

Or just normal diagnosis in the report?

    Thankyou in advance
