Waiting to long

7 weeks of complete stress and anxiety.

My gp said after ct scan i need a endoscopy still nothing. (yes I'm aware of the pandemic) and apparently the mdm is held on a Thursday my gp said last week. So if they held it yesterday would I have heard today? And that they were looking at my scans imminently.

So what is going on. I'm stressed out of my mind.

Tearful every day

Anxiety medication is struggling to work

  • Hello Fallmare,

7 weeks is a really long time and I can understand why you are feeling so stressed and anxious. I am not sure really whether you would have heard something by now but do try and ring them maybe to find out where they're at. It's good though that they are looking at your scans imminently and I hope you get some answers soon.

You seem to be reaching such high levels of anxiety (especially as you mention that your anxiety medication is not working as well as it should) that I am wondering whether it might be a good idea to talk to your doctor about this? Perhaps they can tweak your medication or have other suggestions for you to help you cope during this long wait. There are some helpful tips on this page too to help you cope while waiting for news but I know it's easier said than done!

I think my colleague also mentioned this to you but if you'd like to talk to one of our friendly nurses they are available on this free number 0808 800 4040 - Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm so don't hesitate to give them a call. It may help to have a chat about everything with them and they may be able to answer some of the questions you may have about the MDM meeting for example.

I hope others who have been in a similar position will be along shortly too to share their own experiences with you.

    Best wishes,

  • Thankyou

    I'm ringing my surgery tomorrow

And will also about my anti anxiety medication

This is far to long its unfair

Even if people did not have mental health or anxiety all this waiting without even a tiny bit of information or reassurance could certainly start it.

    Thankyou though Lucie

  • HI Fallmare,

I'm obviously not a doctor or health care pro..

However, I've been through my own cancer journey & in my case, things happened *very* quickly for me!

I literally went to the doctors, was sent straight to hospital & admitted right away.

Tests & scans followed (including ultra sound, MRI & CT)

A week in hospital saw me referred to another hospital & a dignosis was given in no time at all.

What am I trying to say...?

It's been my experience & others I know that, if they think it's cancer, they act swiftly.

You've been waiting 7 weeks, & I totally get it, it's stressful & worrying times for sure!

Maybe, just maybe, this is better news for you than it could be.

Like I say, I'm not a doctor though.

Wishing you inner peace & good health.

Sometimes (often) when we feel anxious we're shallowiing breathing which compounds the problem.

Big deep breaths, in through your nose & out through your mouth.

    Best wishes,

    Danny  :)

  • Thankyou for the reply danny I really appreciate it..

I'm glad to hear your doing well.

In this past week I'm suffering from stomach pain around the belly button.

I know there is a soft tissue nodule at the apulla.

But they are now going to look in the duodenum.

    I'm very worried.

    Kind regards

  • Hi I understand its very very stressful waiting but our specialists never hurry nomatter what, from being told by my Dr that my blood test definitely was cancer then,X ray, CT and MRI scan and biopsy to actually starting treatment I was 4months , that was over five years ago. What I trying to get to you all the tests make things clearer for the people who know what is best treatment option for you to get you sorted properly and with nothing going wrong., please trying to keep busy so you can consontrate on something else if cleaning up or whatever you like to do keep busy

Hope you can relax and keep positive,.

    Billy

  • Hi when you put "I take it you are well now"I had a laugh to myself , I'm living with cancer no cure just continues treatment and sometimes a change of treatment to stop the cancer getting hold to much.normally I'm fine in myself, and I'm a carer for my wife who has Altzimers and Parkinson's plus other problems.

Take care keep positive and safe.

    Billy
