Tomorrow is results day..and I’m scared

After having total duct removal on the 7th, tomorrow is finally results day.
im terrified. I've tried staying positive, putting on a smiley face, pretending everything is fine, but in all honestly, I'm dying inside from fear and anxiety.

the past 3weeks have been a rollercoaster. Surgery, infection, going back to work, (I'm self employed and have literally just started my own business which is building up)

it's no so much the result itself im scared off, it's the fact I may need more surgery, I already feel mutilated and weak.

  • I got the all clear!

such a huge relief! The past 3 months have been stressful to say the least.

The surgeon said there was no evidence of anything at all in my duct tissues, all normal cells.  just some ecstatia and cystic changes present which are associated with ageing and can cause bleeding.

Now just to heal the physical scars.

the surgeon was very impressed with her work though, she was taken back when she took the dressing off at how difficult it was to spot the scar!

  • Brilliant news!

I got good news too! I'm technically cancer free. Nothing in my lymph nodes. And he got clear margins all round. So no more surgery!

Awaiting oncologist appointment now - next Friday. This will determine whether I need chemo. As further prevention. Or whether I go straight to radiation.

I feel so thankful. I was only diagnosed 8 weeks ago!

My consultant, also my surgeon, has done an amazing job. Had lots removed and was fearing the worst re state of my boob. But he's worked miracles.

Here's to positive stories in what really is a hideous journey.

  • I will. Thank you! This forum is amazing. Has been such a godsend for me. I joined as soon as I was referred for tests and all the people I have made contact with have had such a positive influence to my situation. So much love and amazing advice. I would've really struggled without this for sure.

What's is next for you? Or is it now healing and starting to put it all behind yoi?

  • Hi Sarah,

You're right, this place has been amazing! So much information and reassurance! I didnt know it existed until I was put down for surgery and came across it by accident googling for my surgical procedure lol..

For me, its healing physically. My boob is still huge, sore, itchy (I was allergic to the dressings they used) and lumpy from the scar tissue, but it will heal eventually. The surgeon told me to gently massage it daily to break it down. But not for another 4 weeks yet.

That's the hard part, trying to put it behind you, but having a constant reminder that I cant do the weekly shopping yet,  cant surf yet, or swim in the sea yet. The time will come.

Wishing you all the luck in the world, and I'll be following your story!
