Sarcoma

Hi, im George, 34 year male from South West Devon, recently I've been suspected for soft tissue sarcoma on my left upper arm, i have big lump in my muscle, nhs refereee to the sarcoma specialist and they proceed with scan, ct, and biopsy but after all that they are reserved and didn't put a diagnosis, in few days they will proceed to remove the lump and after that they can be more exactly wit diagnosis but on all my letters written sarcoma excision. Today i spotted in my right arm in the exactly position like on left arm another lump but looks more smaller, there is any chance to be something else because I've seen on internet is very rare to have two sarcomas?

  • Hello, they couldn’t tell me a lot at my appointment, it was a “wait until we get the MRI report then we’ll make a plan for what’s next.” And I’m still waiting for that plan to be made! I never formally got my MRI results, I just read them in the NHS app and called the consultant’s secretary (they still haven’t returned my call). So just in a state of limbo. How are you feeling today? With respect to your friend, she may be a nurse but that doesn’t seem to be the most supportive conversation! I appreciate that she is wanting to be honest with you, but nobody knows anything until you have your results. Everything at this stage is speculation, so try not to take on board what your friend has said. Enjoy the long weekend with your little ones and just await the results from a medical professional who has actually had sight of your report and the images!

  • Hiya,

So sorry its been so long. How are you getting on? Any updates?

  • Hello! All is good thank you, I am back again next week for more MRI results but they think that the “tumour” was actually an intramuscular tear from an injury, showing as a vascular mass. So no big C over here. How are you doing??

  • Hi. I'm so glad you have good news. I bet your so relieved. I wonder what caused that, did you have some sort of injury? Not good news this end unfortunately. I had my follow up mri and the lesion has grown. I've since had a biopsy and am still waiting for the results. It's been weeks and still nothing so I'm guessing it's not good news. The radiologist told me at the biopsy that there are some areas of the lesion that they are concerned about. My anxiety is another level at the moment.

  • I know this is an old post. But I also live in Devon and they also found a suspected soft tissue sarcoma but for me it’s in my thighs. I had an MRI & have been referred to both 2ww and one stop diagnostic service. The waits killing me. How long did you have to wait for your results?

  • I’m in north Avon with suspected sarcoma on hip on 2 week pathway to sarcoma clinic

  • Sorry to hear this! How’s it going now?

  • Hi. I’m really sorry I totally forgot to come on and update. To be honest it was a very long process to get my final results. From initial mri to final results were 6 months, 3 months of that was watching and waiting for a follow up mri to see if it had grown. Mine came back from the biopsy as a type of lipoma. It’s quite rare and deep in the muscle. I have been advised by the sarcoma team to leave it alone. My main concern was what if they haven’t been able to biopsy all of it and if they have missed anything but they have assured me that because it’s small they have checked it thoroughly. It was an incredibly hard time but the team were very supportive and informative. If you have questions or need anything they are there for you to lean on. I’m so sorry you are both going through this and I know how hard it is.

    sending hugs!

  • You have no idea how lovely it is to get a reply- I’ve been sent to the Nightingale in Exeter and waiting for US. My original post said Avon as it spell checked it from the work Devon ! I can’t change the post!

  • I’m so pleased for you that it wasn’t worse case diagnosis. I think these things are very scary. I’m trying hard not to catastrophise. Are they going to scan you regularly?
