I've had a quick look through the forum and found that [@Ambrose]‍ and [@jayne2021]‍ have had a hysteroscopy under general anaesthetic so hopefully they won't mind popping by when they can to share their experiences and advice.

i had unusual bleeding and was referred for a hysteroscopy and biopsy after an unltrsound revealed ovarian cysts and 18mm endrometrial thickness. 
I had a local anaesthetic injected into the neck of my womb but found the biopsy super painful so they had gas and air on stand by which I took advantage of! 
At the same time they fitted the mirena coil to help reduce the thickness. My thickness had lumps and polyps growing on it and must say I was really worried especially as my consultant looked concerned and repeatedly told me my thickness was 'extensive' 

Results back today, no malignancy or atypical cells found which was such a relief. I was so convinced I had cancer.

thank you for your response. I am so pleased your results came back fine. 
I am feeling okay still waiting for a date for my hysteroscopy but have come to the conclusion what will be will be. Keeping everything crossed for positive news.

Sorry to hear you are currently undergoing investigations. I had my hysteroscopy where they found some benign polyps and did a biopsy on my womb which also came back clear. I had previously had CGIN too but that had been burned away via a Lletz procedure and fingers crossed all remains well. 
try not to worry too much as I was so convinced I had the big C especially with my previous history and how thick my womb lining was but all my investigations came back clear and negative if any pre cancerous cells.

Thank you for replying and I'm so glad you had a positive outcome. Fingers crossed I do too. Can I ask was your hystercoscopy done under a general? I've never had one before. Can I also ask about recovery/pain/symptoms to expect afterwards. Thank you so much. x

I had to have mine under general as the first attempt without wasn't successful due to my cervix refusing to open. It was a really simple procedure and I was in and out the same day. I was very lucky not to really suffer with any cramps or pains afterwards. However I did get mouth ulcers for a couple of weeks after but that's what happens to me when I've been a bit run down. 
I hope it all goes well for you and get a positive outcome. CGIN is easily treatable and it's good they are being thorough and checking everything out. X

Thank you. My consultant scared me yesterday but saying he didn't know if it was cancer or not and this is why he was doing the procedure. The delivery was quite blunt but I understand no doctor can give you guarantees. It did frighten me though.
