Polyp & cervical biopsy twice & no diagnosis

I assumed that with the polyp removal (3 weeks ago), that my tummy would go down & the aches go away, but my symptoms have become much worse. I have had 2 biopsies buttold that there was in-sufficient tissue to obtain a prognosis but that the consultant has no concerns because it looked alright so no need for further appointments. Now I do not know if my symptoms are anything to do with my uterus or ovaries, but no one seems concerned . So after a nurse suggested I measure & keep a diary of symptoms to show the doctor Istarted writing it down yesterday. 9.30am stomach measures 41 inches, after work it measured 43 then 44 at 7.14pm & 46 inches at 10.10pm. Urine out put 16 times during the day, food intake yogurt, half a roll of cheese & salad & have trouble eating. My lovely fiancé bought me some larger clothes for comfort & to cheer me up. No one is listening to me & I feel so abandoned by the medical profession as if I am a fraud. Actually don’t want to speak to the medical profession without my partner as an advocate. Had phone conversation with GP who doesn’t trust the c125 test that I had which showed a raised marker & the original reason I was examined& wants to blood test me for thiroid & diabetes’s. My symptoms seem to be over looked & more a search for things Not related. Feeling scared & very low & especially after nurse who checked me over suggested IBS to middle age spread.

  • Hi, sorry to hear about your symptoms and frustrating time with getting answers.  I've just had treatment for abnormal cervical cells but before that I also had an internal ultrasound scan to view ovaries and womb as had other symptoms too.  I also had a colonoscopy done as I had a change in bowel habit since November last year, however the colonoscopy showed nothing which was a relief but still get a lot of weird symptoms on and off!  Have you had any ultrasound scans done?

  • Thank you Steph & sorry for the ranting post. I am too emotional at the moment & probably partly hormonal & I started a diary on 1st May that I log measurements of abdomen, toilet for urine & bowel movements, weight & food/fluid intake. Saturday had 17 urine toilet runs & tummy started at 41 inches in the morning & 46 by the evening. I am struggling to eat but when I do it’s very healthy termed as ‘clean’ foods. I am getting more lower back pain & some tummy sharp twinges with feeling sick at different pain randomly during the day. I have compared the symptoms for peri menopause & ovarian cancer/cysts etc & with a constant bloated tummy & frequent urination with lack of energy the scales slant more towards OC. I will ring the cancer research nurse thank tomorrow. Thank you I so need what ever it is sorted, getting married in August. My partner is going to help be my advocate as I feel to emotionally fragile to deal with happy talk & not the proper investigation of symptoms.

  • Thank you for replying & sorry to hear of your pain & search for answers I do hope you get sorted soon. After a c125 test came back slightly raised at 38 the GP sent me for an ultrasound which showed thickening of endometrial lining of womb & the fibroids which were detect the previous year after agonising pain on my right side of tummy & they could not see the ovaries last year or this time but were not concerned. Then had a hysteroscpy which showed a polyp & told to come back & have it removed. 3 weeks ago polyp removed & a second biopsy which resulted in not enough tissue to diagnose as previously but consultant said she had no concerns. I was happy after polyp was removed because I assumed that was the cause of my symptoms but I am feeling worse & getting worried. I want my symptoms to be just hormones but need a proper diagnosis the same as you.

  • So upsetting and frustrating for you.  I too am struggling to know which are part of hormonal changes and which aren't.  It seems so many women struggle with issues in the run up to menopause.  Really hope you get some answers soon.

  • Thank you ML2519. An update as got so bad beginning of May that I couldn’t eat as felt so full. Went to A&E & spent all day there while bladder tested & still very full even with all the urine output & X-ray showed severe constipation & after examination told to take Laxido every day & refered back to gynaecologist consultant. Went to appointment & luckily my partner was with me for support. After consultant checked tummy & said it’s just the menopause & asked if Gp had offered me antidepressants & would I like some? I was taken aback by that comment but at least had another ca125 test although she said it will be raised anyway because of fibroids, & another ultra sound. I asked what happens if ovaries not found again & she said I will be referred to a gastroenterologist if that is the case. I have lost trust in the medical staff & getting ready to book a private MRI scan as my stomach is looking 6months pregnant, not eating very much & permanent Laxatives & Renoir’s. Thank you for this site as feeling lonely & pigeon hold. Trying to stay positive as I just want a diagnosis.

  • So sorry to hear that you still don't have any clear answers.  It must be beyond frustrating for you.  I've had my abnormal cervical cells removed early May so that was a relief to get it over and done with.  Just waiting for a follow up internal scan on ovaries to check on things.  Maybe a private MRI would help. It sounds ridiculous that they offered you antidepressants!  That is their answer to most hormonal things! Not good enough.  Best wishes.
