Tongue Biopsy - waiting for results. Feeling nervous

My husband has recently had a tongue biopsy due to having a white patch on his tongue. We are waiting for results to come through and are both very anxious as it's been over 2 weeks now since he had biopsy. Is anyone else still waiting for results after so long. We are really worried.

  • Hi AGAP,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I can understand how you must feel - the waiting for results is never easy. I'm not sure if you were given a timeframe within which to expect results, but if you haven't heard anything after around three weeks you could always call to check, as usually biopsy results are received within this time.

    Wishing you all the best,

  • Hi,

    Thank you for replying.

We got a letter appointment in the post but that was not until June which seemed a long time to wait for biopsy results. We contacted the hospital and they have now sent an appointment which is in two weeks time. The wait would have been so tough as my husband suffers from a mental health condition too. Even though we have a fortnight to wait it's still a very anxious wait. All we can do is hope and pray for the best outcome.

  • So sorry for late reply, just wanted to update you on my husband's biopsy results. We got an appointment made earlier than the June date that was given and all is well. It was an infection that he had which was quite deep and so far nothing untoward. We are so grateful to the dentist and hospital for all the help they gave and so thankful it was nothing sinister. Sending you all on cancer chat a big hug and our love and for all to keep fighting and to stay positive. Much love from us all xxxx

  • That is amazing news AGAP - we are so pleased that it turned out to be nothing sinister.
