Mole appeared on end of toe

Hi everyone.

I'm one of those people with pale skin but lots of moles and freckles. I do keep an eye on them but one place I don't seem to take much notice of them is on my feet!

My partner noticed it when he was giving my feet a rub one night after a long walk and thought I had mud in my nails but when it didn't wash away I realised it wasn't. It isn't a bruise as it has been there a few weeks now and being a regular long distance hiker I know a bruise when I see one, these tootsies have had a tough paper round for their 34 years! :silly:

The 'mole' in question is quite uneven in colour but is rather small, I would say less than 1cm round. Should I be concerned or would I be wasting my doctor's time if I asked for an appointment to have it looked at?

I should add, I worry that I am being extra paranoid as I had a school friend who died with melanoma and my cousin has fought melanoma more than once and is now for the third time being treated but this time it has spread.

  • You're not being paranoid, just cautious.  Show it to your GP.

  • Hey!

Ive been posting on here with a couple of other members about moles on our feet recently and concerns we have. It's a weird place to find them and unfortunately just typing "mole" into Google sends you down a rabbit hole of doom and gloom.

Initially I would say just see if it is not a blood blister? I had something similar once and after a few weeks it went, just a case of being 100% sure before you worry yourself too much.

Also, never think you are wasting a GP or Dermatologists time. It is your body, your health and your mental well-being. As I have found, your won't find answers looking online or asking on here, but you will find support and direction. Mine being, if in doubt go and talk to the doctor. It can be a worrying time but you will at least be on a path to action whether it is something needing to be addressed or not.
