Hi everyone,
I'll try and keep it brief. I'm a 49 yo male.
6weeks ago l contacted my gp with sinus problems, tight chest and a large golf size lump in my neck. I was prescribed antibiotics during a telephone consultation and told if lump grew or didn't disappear to call back. It got bigger so l phoned back and was invited to have a physical examination. After being examined my gp said he was concerned about the lump and referred me for a fast track consultation with ent, l had a phone call and was seen by a consultant 3 days later. The consultant examined me and put a tube up my nose and down my throat and said he thought I had a thyroid tumour and would need a scan and biopsy with the possibility of surgery. Having just lost my father in law to oesophagus cancer l was a bit taken aback and should have asked more questions, it's been nearly two weeks and l haven't had any appointments (we have had the Easter break inbetween which may slow things down) and just wondered if anyone knew how long it is in general from initial ent appt to scans and biopsy, l know hospitals are struggling at the moment and l don't want to be a nuisance.
Any advice or experience of wait times would be very much appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this..
Best wishes to you all.
UPDATE: sods law, after asking on here I've received an appointment for ultrasound and biopsy on 5 May.
