Supraclavicular Lymph Node.. Worried!!!!

Hello All,

I recently had my covid vaccine - I noticed my shoulder / collarbone was sensitive when I touched it a day after I noticed I had a small, moveable, lump.

I spoke to the GP on the phone (because of covid) she said it's likely a lymph node from the jab. I went away and still wasn't happy as no one saw me... so I called back and spoke to a different GP... she didn't sound worried either, but called me in... I saw her, she felt it and didn't blink an eye lid... but said she would give me a blood test for peace of mind.

I rang back to get the results and spoke to a further GP... my blood tests were completely normal.... I explained it to him too and he also didn't seem like he was concerned.

I work at a private hospital, so went to see a consultant dermatologist on his lunch break ( he has had a special interest in lumps and bumps for 28 years ) - he wasn't worried, said it was small like a little finger tip size, it was moveable etc... and then he said come and see me in three weeks for a follow up. I went back, he said there's been no change. So he wasn't worried...

I have severe health anxiety and Google is sending me through the roof...

has anyone had a supraclavicular node story and it not be sinister??

I suffer with breast acne, could this cause the swelling???

  • Hey Nightlight

mine has been there since a few weeks after my first jab, which was back in February. I only found mine incidentally too, and it has only decreased a bit in size if any no can tell you that the more I poked at in to check, the longer it stayed at its biggest. It had reduced slightly just before I had my scan, but has increased slightly since they ran the probe over it for 20 minutes. I'm in the UK too and it isn't widely published, but it definitely should be.

    regards, Laura x

  • Hey! Try not to worry too much. I know its easier said than done when you find a lump. About a week after getting my first phizer vaccine i too noticed a lump above my collarbone. I balled crying when i found it. I was extremely worried as I had leukoplakia on my vocal cords last year and dysplasia which were borderline cancerous and I'm only 27. I had a ultrasound and CT scan and my consultant spoke to a head and neck radiographer which confirmed that the swollen lymph node is due to the covid vaccine. I first noticed the lump back in february and while it has gone down slightly, its still there. I've spoken to a few people who have had exactly the same issue following the vaccine. Its normal for us to overthink. Stay away from dr.google..worse thing you can do!! Keep your head up!! I'm sure all will be fine!

  • Hello

I just wanted to say that I had an ultrasound on my collarbone yesterday as I had a lymph node swell up and it is vaccine related for me. The sonographer said they are seeing so many more people about this, of course always get it checked but I hope you find comfort in that there are lots of us who have this and seems to coincide with the vaccine.

mine only measured 4mm on screen but it feels so much bigger, I would say at least a centimetre but it made me think that I am feeling it under layers of skin etc.

I have reported mine on the yellow card scheme in the hope that if more of us do it when vaccine related it will bump it to a more common side effect and there is more awareness of it.

    xx

  • Hello!!

I had my Pzifer Jab last Friday on the left side. In the week my neck (again left side) really seemed to hurt and yesterday I was fiddling about and had a swollen painful moveable lump above my collarbone. I remember seeing in the pzifer document I was given that swollen lymph node are a side effect. Went on google and there has been lots of reporting too.

This post has also made me feel better. It can't be a coincidence were all finding them after the jab. Must be because of the jab.

  • Hi, going by the other posts I feel a little more positive. I have the First Az about 7 weeks ago on a Thursday, on the Sat after I felt a raised lymphnode under my arm pit. Booked an app with the dr and she did some blood tests which came back ok (apart from my bilirubin level being high, another test since has confirmed this has come down and dr feels this is a red herring) however 3 weeks post vaccine my left breast has started to get slightly bigger and I'm having a few shooting pains in the left breast. Again dr examined me and couldn't feel anything in my left breast. This did go down just after my period but flared back up again after. Im having to pay private for a scan next week as the referral is another 6 weeks on the NHS and my nerves can not take waiting this long. I'm starting to wish I never had the vaccine as I have all sorts going on in my head at the moment :-(

  • Hi!

This exact same thing happened to me last week and I was going out of my mind with worry! I contacted my gp and went for an appointment the day after and tjeyydidn't seem overly concerned but is referring me for an ultrasound (probably just to put my mind at rest as I'm a massive worrier)

Glad I came across this thread as its helped me chill out about it now. Also need to stop prodding and messing with it as it probably won't help haha!

  • Hi everyone,

I just wanted to give a quick update. I have now had two appointments with my GP regarding the supraclavicular lump. The first one was four weeks ago (about two weeks after my finding of the lump) and the second one three weeks later.

I have now had the swollen node for 6 weeks and, although I am almost certain that it has reduced in size a little, I cannot stop feeling anxious about it. The reduction in size is only minimal and has not progressed for the last four weeks.

My GP has now booked me in for an ultrasound - but not via the 2-week neck-lump route, so I will be waiting for another 2-3 months. She said she'd expect the lump to have disappeared by then (in which case I could cancel the appointment), but if not, I should have the US.

I am now starting to wonder if I should ask her to make this more urgent because I have also been having problems with constant acid reflux for the past couple of years - so, I can't stop worrying that there might be something in my esophagus or stomach. (She thinks it's unrelated as I don't have any of the most common warning signs of cancer such as night sweats or weight loss.)

I am aware that I have to decide this for myself but I was wondering what other people would do in this situation. How long have you had your lumps now?

From what I've read in this and other threads, it seems to me that those swellings don't always go away within the suggested period of 4-6 weeks. Apparently, some people (in another thread, I believe) have been told during their US examinations that these reactive lumps might not go away at all once they've been chronically swollen.

  • I am currently experiencing the same issue a week exactly after my COVID shot, dose 1. Swelling in supraclavical area and anxiety through the roof. Awaiting an appointment in 2 days from medical assessment unit as regular go didn't think it was from vaccine. Same arm as vaccination shot so I'm hoping that's the cause

  • Hello

There is another thread about this too that has about 200 comments? Seems really coincidental like what we all think. Still good to get checked but might be worth taking a look.

    Many thanks

    Natalie

  • So I had the same thing and it definitely shrunk but was still there by the time my second jab was due and I've just had the second one and the lump has doubled in size and I'm back to square one. I'm very anxious about it too even though doctors have said because it's movable it shouldn't be sinister but I keep getting waves of fear that that the jab has given me 'C' I know it's irrational but I'm glad I'm not the only one panicking as I kept thinking in the only one going through this worrry
