Mass found on cervix during smear

On Wednesday I went for my smear. Currently on yearly ones due to having lletz treatment a few years back and then cells found on smear in 2018. During my smear the nurse seen what she thought might be a polyp , she called the doctor in who had a look and said he didn't think it looked like a polyp due to it not being smooth and shiny and it looking more abnormal and discoloured. He put a referral in and Iv got an colposcopy app on Friday 16th at the hospital. Am really worried, I'm a single mum to 2 boys and now panicking about what the mass could be. Not really sure what advice can be given to me if any but tbh it just makes me feel a bit better having written this down and having an outlet to be able to say I'm scared as being alone with the kids I don't have the ability to let the face mask drop as I have to be the strong , happy positive one so they don't know or worry about anything. Just feeling a bit lost tonight I guesse :(

Try not to worry, I know its easier said than done. It takes a long time they say between 10-15 years for abnormal cells to develop into cervical cancer.(it was 12 years for me). If you had the LLETZ treatment a few years ago and you are having a colposcopy next week if anything is wrong they will find it early enough to take action, maybe another LLETZ treatment.

I'm not a doctor but have read so much about cervical cancer after my diagnosis last year.

    Hope it all goes well

    Sending you lots of love

    Xx

  • [@Giggsy]‍ thankyou for your reply and sending love. Meant a lot. I had a little pity party for one over the weekend , but picked myself back up and until Friday when I can hopefully get some answers not going to ( well attempt not to) think about it.

wishing u well with your treatment & think it's lovely with what you are going through yourself that you still take the time to offer others your support. Beauty in every struggle and fact you can find compassion & empathy  for others amongst your own struggles says everything about you . Take care lovely xx
