I went to an appointment at the hospital as a different scan had picked up a thyroid nodule. Upon going to the hospital appointment I was scanned and then the radiographer said as it was an inch in size and didn't look great I would need a biopsy. The biopsy came back as inconclusive at the time and the consultant said they needed sending off for testing and I would get the results 4-5 days later.
Day 8 of not knowing if I have cancer or not and I ring the consultants secretary who doesn’t ring me back.
Day 11 and my GP is tasked to chase the results... but doesn’t. I rang another (grumpy) secretary who says yes there is a letter on the system I will send it to you.
Day 12 the letter still isn’t here so I ring the Docs and the receptionist says they have a copy of the letter and ask if I would like to collect it. I do collect it but it was dated 12 days ago (the day of the biopsy) and it’s just to inform the GP I had a biopsy and the results have been sent off, not the results I was promised.
Then after another 5-6 calls I speak to another secretary who says the results are in and the consultant will review. The consultant finally gets back to me... via letter, to say my results are still inconclusive so still unsure if cancer or not but let’s just wait 4 months and do another biopsy.
I am beyond angry for how this has panned out and I'm also nervous about waiting 4 months which is what has been suggested for another scan and another biopsy . Has anyone had a similar experience and what was the outcome?
My thyroid is already dead and I'm on thyroxine so I'd rather it's just taken out of there is any chance it could be cancerous.
