is there hope?

I am waiting for nect CT scan results. I know I have throat cancer (had symptoms for 10 months I did not go to doctor) which has spread as I have pains in the abdominal that go to my back, looks like metastasised in my pancreas or liver. I have pains in my legs too and also at my back. I can't stand well and pain when I eat, hardly no appetite and losing weight.

I thought I was going to let it just kill me but now I am willing to go down figting, at least in the operating theater. I am thinking I only have a few days or month if I go untreated and I am thinking they might not be able to offer me a single hope.

Do you think I have a hope? Do you know anyone who survived

  • I forgot to say I am going for an abdominal CT scan as well.

  • Hi GKGio. Welcome to the forum.

Have you received an official diagnosis of throat cancer from a specialist? or have you been told there's something suspicious in your throat by doctor? or do you just suspect that you've got throat cancer because the symptoms match?

  • Hello GKgio,

it looks like you are in a bad place currently, just how bad will come to light with the results of the scans, only then can your question be directed to those with the information and ability to answer your question with authority.l well remember the numbing darkness that enveloped me upon hearing my diagnosis, but two things struck me soon after,l cannot change what is,l cannot worry about the unknown,l need to save my strength and focus on what can be.l had spread out from the bowel to the liver, but chemo/radio/surgery and a good few years of grief see me now leading a full and active life, and the fat lady that likes a song will have to wait for a while yet.

l hope the results come back being better than you currently fear, and that your wish to take up the struggle is given the green light,

  • He suspects but now my throat is getting worse, even difficult to swallow. For sure, and the faces of the radiographers afterwards was a big hint. But it is all my symptoms. The doctors know I have it this is the very urgent tests.

What I am asking is do you know anybody with cancer which spread so much including pains in legs, back, pancreas which survived at least for a few months? I am afraid they will tell me there is nothing they can do.

  • Hello David,

this helps me for the night. Did the spread happened after treatment?

Did you have symptoms like I am describing?
