Mri neck-sore throat since December 2020

I have had a persistent sore throat since December 2020. Spoke to a doctor who first gave me omperazole for reflux and then antibiotics incase of an infection which neither worked.

He then referred me up to the hospital and I had my throat checked and a camera up my nose via ENT.

The ENT doctor said it doesn't look like anything tow orry about but referred me for an MRI 'just incase which i had Friday 26th Feb 2021.

I am awaiting results but I'm extremely anxious.

I suffer with anxiety a lot.

Does anyone have any similar experiences with this please?

Mainly for reassurance reasons fed up of doom and gloom of Google (worse thing to do i know)

Thanks

  • Hi,

Similar boat here, lumps in my mouth and stuffed up sinuses went to my GP who refered me to ENT they stuck a camera up my nose and said there's something of concern going on so sent me for a CT scan (went two days later on a saturday) also got refered to an oral surgeon who read my CT report and said 'O my gosh' but wouldn't discuss the results, gotta wait til friday for the results off ENT which sucks waiting still. Doesn't help ENT said somethings up and the oral surgeon saying that but sure it will be nothing and fingers crossed yours is as well!!

  • I have a lump by my tonsil aswell that I thought was a tonsil stone but up ENT they said it was a lump of puss.

I also have lumps in my neck but I have for a while and they have previously been scanned.

I wish you all the best.

I hope my results hurry up they did say this week.

  • Hi Bff262715.

If it's any consolation there are a lot of people here with persistent sore throats that have no explanation. I'm one of them.  I've had my sore throat for a few years now.  A couple of months after it started I was referred to the ENT.  They put an endoscope up my nose, gave me a neck MRI, and finally I had a biopsy (panendoscopy) under general anaesthetic.  Absolutely no cancer found.  And I'm not alone in having gone through this sequence only for nothing sinister to be found.

I know it's difficult but please try not to worry about this.  There are plenty of people in a similar situation who go through these tests, and turn out not to have cancer.
