FIBROIDS

Since November i have been experiencing severe abdominal pains on the lower right hand side that wake me up suddenly in the night, i go to move my body and is pain is even worse (like someone stabbing me and twisting the knife) this lasts for a few minutes the pain then eases off and i drify back to sleep, i then wake up feeling so heavy in my vagina and my stomach feels lumpy. I suffer really bad with bloating  and can  pass off as 6 months pregnant, im forever wearing baggy tops.

i went to see my GP who gave me blood tests, smear & swabs which all came back normal

I called the GP back and asked if they could refer me to a gynaecologist as i was still experiencing the stabbing feeling, they suggested i have an ultrasound done first.

I had an ultrasound and she found that i have multiple fibroids, she seemed rather concerned about one on my right hand side, she said it looked infected but also said that a gynaecologist will explain all to me.

I then received a call from my doctor who said he had sent out an urgent referral to see a gynaecologist and its to see if i have cancer, he was very blunt on the phone, i mentioned that the ultrasound lady said she could see an infection and he said that theres nothing on my notes about an infection - just a complex structure?

Im 40 with no kids my cycle is very normal my only symptoms are the bloated stomach and the abdominal pains

I feel like i cant relax and i am so shocked at how abrupt he was, i kept on asking him questions and all he could say is not to worry.

Has anyone ever experienced anything like this

thanks xx

  • Hi

Yes I have the same! I'm have a 9cm fibroid which has caused a bulky uterus.  Im waiting for a gynae appointment and further scans.

Did you ever get yours sorted?

  • Hi Ruby_myfanwy and welcome to the forum.

I noticed you were hoping to hear back from Lizzieboo.

Unfortunately they haven't been back on the forum since making that post in April last year so there's a chance you may not get to find out what happened.

I hope that won't be the case but if you don't get a reply then you're welcome to reach out to others on more recent discussions about this or you can start your own.

I hope you don't have to wait too long for your appointment or scans and that the results of both bring good news when the time comes.

    Kind regards,
