I suffered with painful fibroids for a long time. I was diagnosed via ultrasound and was told one was the size of a 6 months my pregnancy so my stomach reflected that.

First gynaecologist wanted to do hysterectomy and said that was the only way to get rid of them.  At the time I was looking after my mum who had massive stroke so refused.

I lived with them and the pain for a while then got second opinion and had zoladex injections for some years which did shrink them. I am now in the menopause and they seem to have permanently shrunk.

At the time they were really painful on and off and my stomach was really big.

Did you experience the pain in the middle of the night ? as thats really the only time i have pain

I experienced the pain randomly throughout the day and night. 

The gynaecologist thought it was the position of the fibroids and them pulling on ligaments. 

The pain was sort of in my groin but really bad. X 

When your doctor referred you, did he metion cancer?
is it normal for them to say its a refferal for Cancer

To be honest no he didn't but I didn't ask either. My stomach was that big he thought I was pregnant and did a pregnancy test.

This all started about 10 years ago and since then a few of my friends have been diagnosed with fibroids and some have had no symptoms. 

The gynaecologist was quite shocked about how big mine was. 

hi, I have severe endometriosis which took a long long and very excruciating 14 years to get diagnosed. Like you I also currently have fibroids and one is the size of a kiwi! I’m awaiting my second major surgery to cut out endometriosis tissue and hopefully the fibroids too, I completely understand and also think it might be worth you asking to have a diagnostic laparoscopy to check for endometriosis (it can only be clinically diagnosed by a lap). It’s a truly awful horrible disease, I’m in my early thirties with no children. Was waiting to start ivf but lost my partner to covid months after we completed our fertility workup. I do hope you get to the bottom of your fibroids I know how worrying they are! I hope you feel better soon, take care x

Hi, I'm not sure what's going on with me gynaecologically so won't comment on that just now. I felt I couldn't read and run. I want to say how sorry I am for what you've been through. I hope you're coping. Stay safe x

I'm 28 years old and Mine was the exact same but only because after they found a 7cm fibroid in my womb then I had a smear test which came back positive for HPV and change in cells .. now I have to go for a colcoscopy on Monday to find out wether it's cancerous or not .. it's so hard to stay positive.. everything feels like it's taking forever :( best of luck to you, I hope everything is okay 

Thankyou that’s really kind, have a lot going on & will be discussing further with Macmillan this morning (am a bit nervous as it’s the first time!) I hope your gynaecological problems can be treated or managed once you know what’s going on. Sending best wishes to you and positive thoughts x
