14mm endometrial thickness waiting biopsy results

Hello everyone i am 55 years old and this is my story any advice would be so welcome right now, i feel like im caught up in a whirlwind of doom

i had a post menopausal bleed a christmas, within 2 weeks I had seen the doctor for an internal check up .

all seemed well but she Sent me for a scan just to double check

that scared the life out of me. , he was very candid made a few hmmm and arrrs but didn't say much except id like to do wn internal scan if that's ok?  I said if course but why ?? Ohhh just to get a better look around ? He was very vaigue with his answers .except the usual we will be in touch within 2 weeks.

sooo fast forward 10 days ok later doctor rings..  my endometrial thickness was 14mm and soo she was referring me to hospital for a biopsy ??
got my appointment within another 10 days and off i went when i got th

here she had the scan pictures and asked could she also do a hysteroscopy . It wasn't that bad just uncomfortable, and they were so lovely.

sooo another 2 week wait .. but within a few days i had a cooy of a letter from hospital to my doctor saying everything looked healthy aoart from the 14 mm thickening(cervix ect was healthy) but she has found a slight thickening on the posterior uterine wall and had taken a biopsy , she said the endometrium looked proliferative and if the endometrial biopsy was benign she would dudd as charge me from her care ? Guess what 2 weeks wait for results.

so now im feeling slightly better about things . Until  3 days ago i had 2 letters on the same day telling me that my appointment was being brought forward fom march to feb then second letter another week forward .. what appointment? I hadnt had one .. so I phoned and all they told me was that she wants to discuss my results?

now I am really worried .. its got to be something ? Or surely they'd just talk over the phone? I mean we are still in a lockdown!

Sooo im going this Thursday 18th feb? And to be fair excpecting the worst.

I am absolutely terrified but am keeping it to myself soo I don't worry my husband and children  x

  • Hi

i understand your worry I'm 33 years old, I too have a thickened endometrium lining mine is 12-13mm. I have a TVS and biopsy on 8th December which come back negative. Just yesterday I have D&C with general anaesthetic and hysteoscopy. Now to wait the result......2 weeks no doubt. I would like to hear your results I hope and pray you receive good news. It's an awful worry.

    take care

  • Hey ,

its a worrying time isnt it .  Doesn't help with being lockdown , just gives us more time to worry.

i am trying to stay positive ... please let me know how you get on .  I will let you know how things go tomorrow .

i have to say my treatment so far had been amazing so efficient,

    cant praise the NHS enough

    Take care

  • Have you any other symptoms?

I have terrible lower back pain, pain in hips & pelvis and just within last few weeks now pain in my thighs and backs of legs along with Episodes of nausea . Headaches are terrible and never seem to be able to shift them. I also have terrible night sweats now for about 18 months, amongst a list of other hormonal symptoms. my periods have always been to the very time every 28 days without fail. This last year my periods have been anywhere from 19 days to 35 days, heavy and lots of tissue with clots.

I go through spells of positivity then spells of thinking it all makes sense and answers my symptoms etc but in gods hands I shall leave it and pray no matter what the outcome he give the me the strength to cope and deal with whatever is placed upon me.

the waiting game really sucks more than anything.......

    xx

  • I had a scan on Monday and within less than an hour of leaving I was told that I'm being referred on the urgent pathway for cancer. They said my lining is 21.1mm and I'm really worried as can't find anyone else with such a thick lining?

How did you all find the hysteroscopy? I had a call today to try and get me in tomorrow morning but they never called back to confirm as I have requested GA due to an issue with the process in the past, so now awaiting another call in the morning and told likely Friday.

I'm thinking I will just have to grin and bear the pain and have it without GA due to the urgency. It's all I can think about and feeling so stressed by it all. I'm 36 and a mum to three young girls, worst thoughts driving me crazy.

  • Hey there

I had original TVs and biopsy done just in the office, booked for hysterosopy last Thursday, I couldnt deal with it so I went in on Monday for GA. best option by far.

it's a very worrying time xx

  • Thanks so much for the reply, I'm feeling so anxious.

Can I ask what TVS is? Maybe I should go Friday and have the biopsies etc done but continue to request GA for hysteroscopy.

It's really helpful to read your experience x

  • Tvs is just short for transvaginal scan.

same. My anxiety is through the roof with it all. It's the not knowing and waiting that's the worst. I go through spells if feeling really positive and then down times of what if this or what if that etc I'm putting my own head away but only human at end of the day.

if they give you an appointment on Friday just go and see what you can get from that appointment.

in respect of your lining measurements, at what part of your cycle was this measurement done? hope you don't mind me asking that xx

  • Oh I see, thank you so much for clarifying. Yes my scan on Monday was TVS.

I think I will go on Friday regardless of whether they accept my request for hysteroscopy via GA, as it's all I can think about at the min and like you say, may be able to get a biopsy at least. I'm now just wishing I'd just said yes to going tomorrow morning so I can just move on to the next stage of this process

I don't mind the question at all, I'd stopped bleeding the night before the scan. I think that was even more cfc? Do you know anything in relation to lining and stage of periods that would help me? To me it seems scary to be so thick post a heavy period?

  • Hey I'm not sure about the lining thickness I'm just trying to piece everything together in my head as to why they think mine is cfc ‍♀️. Mine was 13mm around 4th day after period had finished. I know during D&C and hysterosopy dr has said she expected there to be a polyp which she would remove but after she told me no polyps, no fibroids. I don't know if this is a good thing or not

hope all goes well for you today ceecee please keep us posted. Sending hugs & prayers xx

  • MumofKhiana, what will be the next steps for you now? Did the D & C clear the built up lining?

My hysteroscopy is now next Wed and looks like I'll be awake so feeling quite anxious about that. :/

I've been thinking of you today too ceecee and hope you are ok xx

  • Morning Minnie84

It's another waiting game for me now, I just need to await my biopsy results from the D&C. I think around two weeks they said but I'm not sure as was just coming round from anaesthetic. I just want this process behind me now I'm so exhausted with it all.

    xx

  • Morning MumofKhiana,

Waiting is the worst isn't it, I'm kicking myself for not taking the appointment yesterday if I'm going to have to go through the process without GA on Wednesday anyway. So worried I'm not going to cope with it :/ and then more waiting to re-do it with a GA.

I really hope that you find ways to distract yourself over the next fortnight. At least we have each other on here if we just need a vent!

Hope you have a restful day x
