‘That’ waiting stage.

Hello Everyone,

I've recently had a second breast biopsy (the first was inconclusive).

I'm now at 'that' waiting stage for the second time.

Trying to keep calm but I feel stuck in limbo.

Family, friends and colleagues have all been great but it feels harder to talk with them.

  • Hi I'm in ayrshire, Scotland. That's 11 days now from my results and being told I need the lump out. Still not heard a thing x

  • Oh  [@Kelsi]‍ that is really frustrating for you. Each time I've been in they gave me my next appointment time so I at least had dates to work to. How stressful for you. Did they give you contact details for one of the breast care nurses? I think you're perfectly entitled to try and find out next steps. It's the uncertainty that is hard. Really have fingers crossed for you xx

  • Hi, no I asked on the phone how long it would be, as my anxiety about the procedure is through the roof, she said she had no idea and I would just have to wait on the letter xx

  • [@Kelsi]‍ , Thank you

I totally understand where you're coming from. Keep in touch with the hospital every few days.

I've been having sudden mini anxiety attacks about it all. My heart jumps with fright about what may happen next.
I already take an anti-depressant which helps.
Hospitals, I don't mind them. My experiences have been ok. xx

  • [@kiwirunner]‍  and [@Kelsi]‍

    I'm in Surrey.

  • @pinny79,

This is exactly the same with me, I had a panic attack last week about it, I'm really scared about having the lump and surrounding tissue taken out. Then I think ok and those results a few weeks later might not be good news. Could be the start of a long road! And to top it off I found yet another lump last night x

  • They said it's a papillary lesion I have in my breast, has anyone ever had one of these?x

  • Hi,

I just want to let you know that I had a call today from the hospital and the outcome of the biopsies is a Radial Scar  (B3). I've been referred to have the area removed by radiology.

I had never even heard of it before.

    xx

  • Hi, I have never heard of that either. I also have to have my 'papillary lesion ' removed by radiology, I was told this 2 weeks ago and still have received a letter.

And have not really been told what the procedure involves regarding the radiology part.

    Fingers crossed for you xx

  • Hi [@Pinny79]‍ oh that's good news re the radial scar. That's what my second area of concern came back as. They are not that common but mimic breast cancer on all the radiology stuff (mammogram, ultrasound) so it's a massive relief to know it is benign. They are not taking mine out. I guess that is because I had a second area removed under general anaesthetic on Tuesday so two areas out would be a bit deforming. I get the full pathology report on that at the results meeting on 26 Feb. I need to get that over with before I can relax as that one much more suspicious.

I am really sorry to hear the long road you are on with waiting on other results and finding another lump. My experience has been going on for nearly two months and I know how hard it is to be one step at a time and still so much uncertainty. Knowing you can tick off a benign radial scar is a good first step.

[@Kelsi]‍ that's good news that yours is also benign. I don't think papillary lesions are very common either but good to have it identified. Hope you get your letter soon re having it out.

Hugs to both of you xx
