‘That’ waiting stage.

Hello Everyone,

I've recently had a second breast biopsy (the first was inconclusive).

I'm now at 'that' waiting stage for the second time.

Trying to keep calm but I feel stuck in limbo.

Family, friends and colleagues have all been great but it feels harder to talk with them.

  • Hi yes I know what you mean, everyone says 'you'll be fine' but the truth is nobody has any idea what your going through. I had biopsies done 4 weeks ago and got my results last week. Big lump can stay but they want to remove another one. I asked how long until that appointment and she said she had no idea. I feel like I'm back to square one with the waiting, like your feeling aswel,  hopefully you will find out soon that everything is ok x

  • I hope it all goes well for you

youll be in my prayers xx

  • Hi [@Pinny79]‍ i know how you feel! I had my third biopsy yesterday. Was told at first breast clinic it definitely looked like cancer. That biopsy came back inconclusive. Then had an MRI which found a second area in other part of breast so I had original area biopsied again and the new area also done. Those results came back not showing cancer but MDT not convinced as all other signs indicating it is. I'm having surgery on Tuesday to take out original area of concern. If results from yesterday show as cancer then that surgery will be delayed so we can revisit it all. Been dragging on since my recall letter on 24 December! They are being really thorough though. The waiting is really hard so you have empathy on that one.

When do you get your results?

    Good luck!

  • Hello [@Kelsi]‍,

You're absolutely right, the not knowing eats you up inside.

I'd been having strange sensations in the top of my right boob into my armpit, I couldn't initially find a lump. The GP didn't hesitate to send me to the breast clinic. I went on 13th January for the triple assessment. A 14mm lump was found on all imaging (M4, T4 and U4). An ultrasound biopsy was taken but it wasn't accurate enough so I had an upright mammogram guided biopsy on Wednesday this week. I don't think they are convinced it's P2 and normal that the original biopsy result gave.
I fall into a few risk categories. My mum had Stage 4 breast cancer when she was 37 (1983), I was 4 years old-she had a mastectomy of left breast and lymph nodes cleared. She is a survivor! I've had no kids, been on the pill in the past and my breast tissue appears dense.

I know I am in the best hands and they are being very thorough.

Results in 10 days or less.

I hope your results come in soon for you. xx

  • Hi it good you have lots of sepport next to you if you do need to chat never lock your self inside. Well I fined a small lump behind of my neck and also today when I woke up I fined a never lump but this one is when I toile it it moves so I don’t know what could that Ben I’m geting worryed.

  • Hello [@kiwirunner]‍, The hospital haven't said anything as to whether it is cancer or not...it's an area of concern. They're being diplomatic probably not to worry me. Sounds like you've been going through it. Poor thing.
I hope Tuesday op goes well. I'll be thinking of you. xx

My results would be in 10 days or less from 10th February . They rang me last time after 7 days.

  • Try not to worry. Have you had it looked at yet?

    xx

  • Hi I still dont have a letter with the appointment on it, I just wish I knew whether I was looking at a week or 2, or a month down the line. I feel like I'm going crazy some days and I have a phobia of hospitals which doesn't help!

It's such a scary time for us all, I pray your results are clear x

  • [@Pinny79]‍ sounds like they are being thorough. Like you my pathology didn't match the imaging scores which were a U5 T4 and Birad 4 on mammogram.
Fingers crossed you get a good outcome. The waiting is hard and I'm not going to say don't worry as I haven't been able to take my own advice. One day at a time is the only way I've been able to get through it.

[@Kelsi]‍ which part of the country are you in? That seems a long wait and it seems to vary so much by region. I'm in the South West of England and the times to wait at each step have been pretty short with results a week or so later each time. Hopefully the staff are good at putting you at ease if you don't like hospitals. Hang in there xx
