Confused if I have Sarcomas

Recently, during lockdown i've spent a lot of time in my room at my desk, unfortunately I don't have a decent chair so i'm sat on a wooden one with blankets and pillows. In the past week or so i've been uncomfortable sitting on any type of surface and don't know what it is. feels like a boney lump in my ischium tuberosity I believe the bones called (i'm not doctor btw). I'm 17 and not too sure how aggressive this is if it is cancer. There's no pain during walking or anything however sometimes my legs may tingle and stuff but nothing i'd say is painful. If you could help me, any advice would be appreciated.

  • Hi mm2403.

I'm not a doctor and I have no medical qualifications.

Soft tissue sarcoma is uncommon and bone sarcoma is rare.

You've been sitting on a bad chair for a long time, and now you feel pain in your backside.  I think it's safe to say this is far more likely to be caused by continual pressure on the area, than by anything more sinister.

You need to get a better chair and you need to get up and walk around more frequently when working.

The lump you feel could be due to swelling or inflammation or maybe bursitis caused by sitting for long periods in a bad chair, or it could be a natural feature of your body.  As a general rule, most lumps are harmless, but if you're worried then you should talk to your GP.
