I’m so worried

Hi ‍♀️ I'm a 38 year old women who has been to the drs today. I have been experiencing shoulder pain and noticed that my lymph nodes were up and very sore.
My left breast has been very sore too. I went to the drs today and they examined me and have found a lump in my left breast. My mum was diagnosed with breast cancer at 37 and I should have had my first Momagram in September but due to Covid was cancelled. This pain under my arm has been going on for about 4 months. I'm a single parent and I'm so frightened. The dr said the reason I'm in pain is because the lump has grown and pushed on nerves. I am waiting for an appointment at the breast clinic which he said they will call for me in the next 14 days. What happens at this appointment? My mum is 72 and can't remember. As much as I don't want to die and I'm prob over thinking all this I not so bothered about me it's what will happen to my small children. I'm so worked up. My arm is heavy and feels dreadful from the pain. Help really? Don't even know why I'm posting just wanted advice.

  • Hi, I'm sorry to hear your going through this. It's such a rubbish time when your waiting.

I was referred to the breast clinic myself last May and the time between going to my GP and getting to that appointment was awful I was constantly googling and driving my self crazy! So my first piece of advice would be stay off google. It's just makes things worse. Try and fill your time with other things if you can to take your mind off it.

At the appointment you usually see a Dr first who will ask you some questions and examine you and then will usually send you for either a mammogram or ultrasound or both. They may want to do a biopsy if needed, where they will take a sample of the lump. I think it's usually about one to two weeks to get the results.

I hope this helps if you have any other questions or want to talk  I'm here

    lots of love

    Sarah xx
