Psa

My very fit and healthy 86 year old father has had a psa result of 63 in the last month.
In 2017 he was diagnosed early for prostate cancer, receiving hormone and radio therapy. His psa was reduced to 6.

Thanfully he has 6-12 month tests, because apart from dribbling more frequently he feels no difference.
Hormone therapy has been prescribed, tablet then injection.
Blood test have been done, now waiting for bone density scan next week.
Any advice or other experiences would be welcome.

  • Hi greenpepe .

I started on hormone injections every three months then had chemotherapy my psa was 1581 went to lymph nodes spine ribs pelvis and a lung I was diagnosed Feb 2016 My psa dropped for two years then went up slowly till last year when I went on hormone tablets didn't work so others in its place which do work well.

Hormone injections cause hot flushes and weight gain,as well as some tablets can cause same.

Tell him to take something to read or something to eat and drink to scan.

Hope things go smoothly with your father.
