Awaiting breast biopsy results and scared

Hello, I don't really know what the point of posting is but I am going out of my mind constantly googling and trying to find information which might give me more of an idea of what I'm dealing with. If anyone has any experience with any of this, please message!

I found a lump in my breast about a week before Christmas. I went to the gp who referred me to the breast clinic under the 2 week rule. I was lucky to get an appointment quickly and was seen sat Thursday. I was really hoping they'd say it was a fibroadenoma or something but the sonographer said she could not tell if it was cancer or not, that it was not obviously one thing or another. So I had three biopsies of the area. This has really thrown me and I am so anxious. I feel like she was just trying not to worry me, does anyone know how likey it is that she wouldn't be able to tell what it is from an ultrasound?

Im 36 and have 2 young boys, 3 and 5 and the worst part is that my husband was diagnosed with net bowel cancer in September. Things are going well with his treatment but it's been an awful three months and there is still a long way to go with liver surgery planned in next month or so (COVID dependant).

I just don't know how much more I can take. Trying to stay strong and positive but my mind keeps going to dark places and I'm convinced I have cancer and that it's quite advanced. The lump is 3cm and I have an almost constant dull ache in my boob and down my side. Surely that must be related. I've told a few friends but none are really asking me about how I am feeling as I don't think they believe it could be anything, or just don't want to make me worry more by going to that place. I feel very alone.

Thanks for reading. I have 7-10 working days for

the results to come through and will need to go to

the clinic to receive them. I assume I will have to

go on my own, which I think is so cruel! Has anyone been able to take someone with them for results?

  • Hi

Cant really help much. Im in a similar position to you, went to Gp with a lump got refered to hospital with little information about what they would do. Had my appointment very quickly on 29th December my daughters birthday ️ Did mamogram, then scan which said there was something they couldnt identify so would need a biopsy. Had biopsy and waiting for results. I go back on 12th January. Trying not to worry and Google but easier said than done. Wish i didnt have to wait so long im just trying to keep busy ️

  • hi, just finished 2 years of treatment for my cancer and just descovered a lump the same as you,on my breast under nipple. waiting on appointment. im a guy by the way. waiting is the worst. keep thinking positive people

  • Hi ironhead, really sorry to hear you have found another lump and that you are only just finished with treatment. That is hard. My father in law had breast cancer about 6 years ago. Treatment was pretty brutal and it has affected his mobility and issues with lymph nodes and swelling for life, but he's here and he's been cancer free for 5 years . Really hope things turn out well for you, hope the wait goes quickly x
