Terrified I have ovarian cancer @ 36

I recently had a transvaginal ultrasound as I was complaining repeatedly to the GP about a feeling of pressure in my pelvic area. This was initially an issue back in April/May-at that time the nurse examined me and saw an ectropion which was later confirmed at colposcopy. I had a clear CA125 blood test at that time.

I felt my symptoms had died down across the summer but the past couple of months I have felt the pressure type sensation daily along with backache, and going to the toilet slightly more often. I also have indigestion quite frequently.

the doctor rang yesterday with the results of my ultrasound to say I have a mass on my right ovary which has some of the appearances of a tumour I am beside myself. I have read the report and the sonographer has said she saw a mass of cystic and complex makeup but she saw internal vascularity which I am convinced means this is a malignant mass. She has also noted a 1.5cm solid nodule beside the mass so does this mean it's spreading? I have to wait for a gynaecologist referral. The doctor will redo the ca125 next week (we are currently self isolating until then)

I can't sleep, can hardly eat, am convinced I am going to die. I have a 6 year old daughter who needs her mum

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat, le84 although I'm sorry to hear about the reason that brings you here.

We have other ladies on the forum who have been through the same experience, and I hope some of them will come along shortly to chat with you and offer support.

Until then, try to think that you did everything you could have done up to now and try to keep your mind busy with other things until the time comes for you to have another test. I know it's easier said than done so if you feel like you can't handle the waiting time stress and that speaking with someone medically trained might help, please know our team of nurses would be happy to take your call on this phone number 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. - 5 p.m, outside of Holiday hours.

    Best wishes,
