Not sure what is going on :(

I am so low right now, I just need to talk to someone as I am at my wits end as to what is going on with my body. I have been to A&E so many times with no results. I managed to get a gynae referral only for it to be cancelled due to the new covid restrictions and my symptoms are getting worse.

I have written on the board before but now my situation has changed a little and I wonder if ovarian cancer could be likely, than cervical.

Early in the year, I noticed some very faint spotting especially after riding my bike and started having persistent abdominal pain under my left rib - I still have that to this day. I began to ignore it until I felt some bumps down below and took myself to the clinic. I was told I had warts and given a solution, the doctor told me my cervix looked okay but advised me to have a smear.

I had the smear and the results came back high risk hpv with borderline cell changes. I was asked to do a colposcopy and during that session the nurse who did it told me my cervix looked fine but could not explain the bleeding I was having.

Since then the bleeding has gotten worse, yesterday in particular was like nothing I have ever seen so far - I was not spotting but bleeding.

I make a note in my period app and I have noticed a pattern, I tend to start spotting during the days that I am ovulating, it's always 7/8 days after my period has finished that I will begin to spot. It's typically watery pink for a few days and then it will stop. If i ride my bike or wear tight trousers then I will spot with ease. I am not sexually active and haven't been for over a year now so I don't really know what is going on. Yesterday I rode my bike and I came back and was bleeding, a little clot came out, then it was a bit brown and now today its period red. I'm also having intense pelvic pain which I did not have before in addition to my left side pain. It's almost like I'm having a period. I have been in tears all day as I have not told anyone what I am going through or about the hpv.

I feel like the doctors are not taking this seriously and so I mostly suffer in silence, but as this has been persisting every month now I am really worried. I do suffer from IBS so I wonder if it is actually ovarian cancer. One a&e doctor told me I may have fibroids but he did not really check and told me to go and speak with my GP but I really need to see a gynae :(

If anyone can relate or help me out with what they think is going on I would much appreciate it.

  • Hey. You need to ask for a referral for a pelvic ultrasound and a ca125 blood test. Monitor your symptoms and cross reference them with the NHS website for ovarian cancer. The doctor that refers you will probably go through a list of questions relating to your symptoms to see of you're eligible for the referral. Don't suffer in silence, you owe yourself more than that. Make sure you tell the doctor it's been months and something is clearly wrong. Just be as insistent as you can and hang in there! I know it's scary, having gone through a similar situation this year. You can do this!

I had my initial tests done with the NHS and then ended up using private medical insurance for further tests, due to the long wait with the NHS.
