Unexplained lump above collarbone

Hi everyone,

I hope this post is okay, I'm not sure what's wrong with me and I don't want to offend those who have been diagnosed but I'm so anxious right now. I'm 20 years old, and I'm at university right now. About 4.5 weeks ago, I found a small lump above my collarbone on the left side. It feels about 1cm and is oval shaped, smooth and I can move it around easily. I noticed it the day after I had a flu jab so just thought it as an effect of that. It hadn't gone away in a week so I phoned the GP and they agreed to phone in three weeks. Three weeks later and it was still there, they ordered some bloods which all came back clear. They've referred me for an ultrasound after examining it - he said it felt like a lymph node and that from feeling it there shouldn't be anything to worry about. I just keep jumping to the worst conclusions and thinking that I have lymphoma, because I've had really bad fatigue for the past few months. I had glandular fever in summer 2019, and I'm so scared that it could have caused lymphoma. So sorry for the ramble, I just don't know what else it could be apart from that.

  • I would say mine is more the size of a small bean than a pea!! If you read earlier posts lots of people who have had ultrasounds have been told the nodes are much smaller than they thought they were. I think the fact that yours is rubbery and moveable is definitely a positive

  • Thank you I will look at some other posts I'm just looking for some reassurance that there is light at the end of the tunnel thank you again

  • Hi,

Just to let you know ...Mine is under my arm since April, I have two. The larger one measures 1.5cm x 0.5cm according to an ultrasound but it feels much bigger than that. I still have mine it doesn't feel any smaller. I have had it scanned a few times and keep getting told it all looks normal. Does nothing to stop me worrying though! As I have a history of cancer.

  • Thank you for replying mines Above the left collarbone it does feel large and can see that it's raised above the collarbone and can see it I feel fine apart from niggling feelings in and around my belly but I do think I'm Manifesting them as they disappear when I relax so I'm keeping everything crossed and trying to think positive which is hard

  • I've had the results back from the ctscan already the doctor has just phoned me I have no Lesions in any off my organs but there are some other lynth nodes enlarged by the heart aswell as the one above my left collarbone and the largest is 3cm I've now got to have a biopsy to find out why they are enlarged

  • Wishing you good luck with everything

  • Hello Everyone,

When I had my first Covid Jab (pfizer) the very next day I had a lump on my collar bone,  I noticed it as the seat belt was irratating it.  I was put on antibiotics for a week and it reduced but is still there.

After my secont jab (pfizer) I opted for the other arm and  I got a lump under my arm in my arm pit.  Was referred, but the by that time the lump was tiny and I felt like a fraud, not by the nurses just me feeling I was wasting everyones precious time.  The lump comes and goes now. I have another small lump on opposite collar bone now and lump in armpit is small but I feel small lumps in under arm which are slightly painfull as you cant help but keep checking if they hopefully have dissapeared.

Now I know its not  just me. It would be good if some investigation is done.

    Many thanks

  • I can't tell you all how relieved I was to come across this thread. I just found a movable lump on my left collarbone and my neck is slightly swollen. I've just had a full on anxiety attack and nearly passed out. Started googling and found you all.

I had my covid booster on Sunday in my left arm and had not noticed a lump or swelling previously.
Last night I had crippling pain in the left arm and was awake through the night.

I am now much calmer after reading your posts and will give it a few days to see if it reduces.

I had a FBC a few weeks ago as I'm diabetic type 2 and all were normal.

  • Hiya

I was exactly the same when I first discovered my lump - I can still remember the stomach churning moment! It is such a relief to find that so many others have had the same side effect. I'm sure it's a lot more common than they expected!
9 months on and my original node is still swollen. It increases in size each time I have another jab - and usually a couple of smaller ones pop up too!!
Do let us know how things go - and hope you are feeling a bit calmer now
