Possible colon cancer

Hi, 

I'm 35 and I have experienced in the last 6 months severe abdominal pain on my left side, every time starts under my ribs/stomach area and goes down to my lower abdomen. It happened 3 months ago and I had an abdominal ultrasound that was normal. It stated again 2 weeks ago but is worse. The gas, the cramping sensation, the constipation, I haven't seen any blood in my stools but they look a little ribbon like, I've also been having very intense nausea that does not respond to meds and some back pain. I payed privately for a pelvic ultrasound and my ovaries look fine. I'm not anemic but my lymphocytes, neutrophils and protein c reactive are borderline in the upper range. I don't have medical history of colonirectal cancer in my family but I'm freaking out as ibd or ibs usually happens in younger people. I really can't face the fact that is possible/probable to have colon cancer. 
My family doesnt live in this country nd I don't want to call them and worry them, I have friends that support me but I feel very isolated and alone. 
I have a ct scan this Friday and I'm worried sick

    Hi Lunarych. Welcome to the forum.

    I am not a doctor and I have no medical qualifications. I do have some personal experience of IBS and diverticular disease, plus scanning for suspected bowel cancer.

    I'm intrigued to read that you make no mention of your GP.  What does he/she think? Have you had a FIT stool test and what was the result?  Are you going to have a colonoscopy?

    Hi,

    sorry, yes, my Gp has mention both of them things as a possibility but isn't sure as to what's going on, has referred me to gastroenterology but the back log is of about 3 months so in the meantime she suggested the ct scan. I haven't had any stools test. She's not too worried as I don't have any "red flags" but not everyone does.

    Remember that I'm not a doctor and so this isn't medical advice. Always discuss your options with your GP first.

    If I were in your shoes, worried about colon cancer and in a position to afford private scans, then I think I would opt for a private colonoscopy which would eliminate or confirm that possibility. Perhaps you should discuss this with your GP?

    Meanwhile, the incidence of bowel cancer at your age is pretty low, and your mention of pains down the left side makes me think about diverticular disease.  Has your GP eliminated that?
