Hi Everyone,
I'm new here but feeling a little lost at the moment and not sure where else to turn.
I'm 28, married mummy of 1, my daughter is 16 months old. Since having her I've had issues with pain and bleeding during/after intercourse. I didn't think much of it and put it down to having a rough labour (forceps, cut and tore). When I went for my smear back in July I happened to mention it to the nurse, who said she would refer me to the hospital as she noticed some bleeding on contact during examination, but not to worry and it was super common. My smear came back normal as had my previous one 3 years ago. Fast forward to this week, I finally went for my colposcopy (cancelled twice due to covid). Whilst in the waiting room I noticed a poster for cervical cancer symptoms; irregular bleeding, pain during intercourse, lower back pain etc, unusual discharge; all symptoms I have. I saw the nurse and explained everything who noted it all down and then said, a normal smear isn't a guarantee. During my colposcopy they found the ectropion cells the nurse had previously seen as well as a large patch of something else. They took a biopsy and advised they weren't able to remove the cells there and then until they knew exactly what they were dealing with, and I would be called back to discuss my results within 6 weeks. Now I'm panicking, and dont know how I can possibly wait 6 weeks to find out?
Apologies for the long post, but does anyone have any advice and/or experience of a similar situation?
Thanks x
