Mole come and grew in 6 months

I got a spot on top of my leg during lockdown ,. Gave it a squeeze thinking it was a spot but now six months later it's size of pea drives me mad with itch feels like ants biting sometimes, went doctor got red flag referel to hospital they rang me two days later and I'm to go in next week this all seems very quick I'm so worried now ? Anyone else had same

    Hello Cjsct,

    I just wanted to welcome you to our forum. I hope you won't have to wait too long for your hospital appointment. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you while waiting to find out more.

    I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious. 

    I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you. 

    Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Hi Cjsct.  Welcome to the forum.

     

    About 20 years ago I had a lump about the size of a 10p coin appear beneath the skin of my upper forearm.  It really felt like I had a coin umbedded under the skin.  It wasn't painful, but it made sleeping uncomfortable; due to its position it was pushing into the muscle of my arm when I lay on my back.

     

    I think that if I had it today, I'd get an immediate referral, but in those days I had to wait to see a consultant.  In the end I had a minor operation under local anaesthetic to cut it out.  It was sent off to the path lab for analysis and came back as harmless. Apparently it had a long Latin name which I can't remember - I just glad to get rid of it.  I still have the faintest scar where it was. 

     

    Just remember that most lumps are harmless, and a rapid referral doesn't automatically mean you've got cancer.  Nine out of ten rapid referrals turn out not to be cancer.

    Update ,. Had mole removed on Monday and 5 stitches I live in Northern Ireland and the hospital said 4 weeks for results
