No lumps but armpit pain?

Hello all,

I have no lumps, no changes in breasts etc. But I have pain in my armpit. It isn't there all the time, but I feel it throughout the day. Has anyone else had this? Is it just hormonal or could this be a sign of something else?

Thank you :)

  • Hi OzzyB,

A very warm welcome to the forum.

As you can see from the above posts, this can happen. It is impossible to say what the cause might be. The only way to be sure is to see your GP and get referred to the breast clinic. Here, they will usually carry out some tests. The tests vary according to the age of the individual, but can include, mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy. Have you seen your GP about this? - if not, please do so and let us know how you get on.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi, I started getting pain high up in my left armpit for a week now, first I thought was the bra I was wearing so switched but no relief.
If I press on the area there is pain and I feel discomfort sometimes when move my arm.
luckily I have a routine mammogram booked in next Friday ( family history of breast cancer ) I have been having mammograms since I was 39 I’m 51 now.
I would like to think it’s hormonal or a strain but am always so worried it’s something else. I haven’t spoke with my Gp yet because I have mammogram planned but if still painful by Thursday I will submit a econsult I can’t feel a lump myself so maybe getting a professional to check would help , my husband would be clueless!

    Kind regards X

  • Hi Brooke-worth,

A very warm welcome to the forum.

I am sorry to hear that you have these symptoms. Given the family history of breast cancer, you will naturally be concerned. If you hadn't already got the mammogram booked, I would be advising you to see your GP. However, if anything of concern is noticed on the mammogram, you would be recalled and would probably get in the breast care clinic sooner than with a GP referral. Most people who develop breast cancer don't have any pain, but there are exceptions to every rule. We are always advised to get any changes in our breasts checked out, so you are doing the right thing.

I sincerely hope that nothing untoward is found. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
