You know what they say about making assumptions! However as someone who had a similar appointment and advice to go alone, I'd say that on reflection I should have taken someone with me. I was in a room on my own with a consultant, a medical student and a Macmillan nurse (bit of a hint there I thought!) Whilst I completely understand that students have to learn, it did feel that the student's learning could have been achieved via Zoom (or the equivalent) so that I could have had my husband present with me. At another appointment - with a Nurse Practitioner and another Macmillan nurse, I was asked if I wanted someone with me and when I said I did, she said she'd just arrange for us to meet in a bigger room! You need to think about how you'd feel with/without a companion. If necessary just turn up with someone and say you need a carer!!
