Results appointment worried

I had my thyroid biopsy 3 weeks ago and today have a letter for next week to see consultant.

bit gutted as i presumed good news be on phone or letter and face to face is bad. It's at 2pm and I've been told to go alone due to Covid

  • You know what they say about making assumptions!  However as someone who had a similar appointment and advice to go alone, I'd say that on reflection I should have taken someone with me.  I was in a room on my own with a consultant, a medical student and a Macmillan nurse (bit of a hint there I thought!)  Whilst I completely understand that students have to learn, it did feel that the student's learning could have been achieved via Zoom (or the equivalent) so that I could have had my husband present with me.  At another appointment - with a Nurse Practitioner and another Macmillan nurse, I was asked if I wanted someone with me and when I said I did, she said she'd just arrange for us to meet in a bigger room!  You need to think about how you'd feel with/without a companion.  If necessary just turn up with someone and say you need a carer!!

  • I've not been given the choice just says attend alone. In fairness I have to anyway, we have a disabled son so I need to make sure husband will

be home for his school taxi if the appointment runs on.

im just guessing that had it been clear I would have just had a letter saying that.

ive really been struggling to cope with it all, this only came about as I had an ultrasound for an ear cyst lol

  • Make sure you take notes if there's anything you think you might forget.  Please let me know how it goes.
