I was referred to ENT about 2 years ago for a persistent sore throat.  I was given a thorough going over (endoscopy, MRI, panendoscopy + biopsy under general anaesthetic), but they didn't find any cancer.  They diagnosed gastric reflux. To be honest, I didn't believe this until I woke up one night to find my throat full of liquid. 

Even now, two years later, I'm struggling to control the reflux; I discussed this with my GP recently and sent her some pictures of the back of my throat.  She says there's nothing "worrying" about the throat and to continue with the anti-reflux measures.  Obviously, it's happening while I'm fast asleep. 

Could the doctor feel a lump in your throat? Before the endoscopy id expect the reflux diagnosis if I didnt have the lump and I also had a slightly raised platelet on my blood results a few weeks ago which apparently can happen after having a baby but also read it can be a cancer marker which is not helping ease my mind, my endoscopy is on Friday and although I'm grateful to get one so quickly im absolutely terrified about the result of what they might find

was hoping someone had simular with a lump but turned out okay. I'm glad your tests came back okay (no cancer) although reflux isn't a nice feeling at all, hope they the reflux measures help with your discomfort! Sorry if my posts don't make much sense my head is all over the place at the moment.

Hi just wondering how your recent tests went and if you have had any results?

Like you I'm 28 and absolutely worried sick I've got 2 young children and I've been experiencing a tightness in my neck and like I have something in the way of swallowing but it is eased when eating or drinking. I just have this terrible feeling that something is going on. I have an appt with my gp in a weeks time but I am so upset I have been feeling this sensation for a few weeks now and haven't thought much into it until this point. I have been feeling for lumps and don't think I can find anything but I am still really worried. I also have some tightening sensations in my jaw and ears. I do suffer with health anxiety and sometimes I wonder if when I'm worrying the symptoms appear worse than they really are but I just don't know. I just want to get some answers it's having an effect on my daily life at this point 

Hi really sorry for the late reply I have only just come on here again (another health anxiety worry) I'm sorry your going through the same feelings and situation, so I had a camera put down my nose less than a week after seeing the doctor and it all came back fine so put it down to silent reflux I also had a ultrasound scan on the lump that the doctor could feel which turned out to be just a fatty lump luckily I was soo relieved! How did your apt with the doctors go? I hope everything was okay? X
