I'm really sorry your colonoscopy caused so much pain and had to be terminated Nikki but you're not alone as some of our members have also been in this position so they will really understand how you're feeling at the moment and will hopefully pop by soon to offer their support and advice.

If you're still experiencing pain from the procedure do be sure to get in touch with the department that carried out the colonoscopy as they'll be able to advise on how to make this better.

I empathize with you Nikki, the same happened to me last Thursday.  Mine too was terminated after trying three different positions, also ended up in tears, it was just brutal!  Hope you're feeling better now x

I find them painful but managed to get through to the end.

I don't have as much bowel now after surgery but still find it painful.

The latest one, they were struggling and swapped to a thinner scope which did the job. Why not use this everytime? I will be sure to ask for this beforehand in the future.

I hope the pain has subsided for you now. Did you go into theatre thinking it was GA and they changed it or did you choose sedation? I think I have to have one soon too and I'm scared!

Hi , yes I was under the impression from my letters and the pre assessment phone call I would be having GA but once I was in they gave me a mixed seditive that did not help with the pain. I don't know what is wrong with me but I do have an externally sensitive stomach. If you feel uneasy about the treatment opt for GA . 

Hi , there was no explanation , after a lot of tears and screams  ( from me) they terminated the procedure ,I got myself dressed then a very short meeting saying that the examination was terminated . I then expressed I was meant to be having GA. They apologised and said they will book me back in . Off I went . It was an extremely unpleasant experience 

Did you have a pre-op assessment, where they take an ECG, discuss your current meds, etc? 

To the best of my knowledge, everyone should have this before any planned GA.
