I completely understand how worried you both must be.  Does your partner have a date to be seen in hospital?  Depending on how long ago he was referred, you may want to chase this up with surgery/hospital.  My experience is that you may have to become something of a nuisance sometimes in order to get appointment/s.  From what you're saying, it sounds like he may well need a colonoscopy which isn't the most pleasant of procedures but should lead to finding out more.  I wouldn't rush to read too much info via google etc - you'll only worry even more and worrying changes nothing!  Try to be supportive without overwhelming him.  Listen to his worries and, if you feel you must share your own, try to share with a friend rather than adding to his burden.  I sometimes feel I'm supporting my husband through all this when I'm the one with the cancer!  Good luck to you both.
