Day one - found lump, referred to breast clinic

This morning has been a roller coaster. Couple of days ago I found a lump.... was it real  ? Maybe not...maybe it wont be there tomorrow ( monday) crack on..keep your mind occupied..dont think about it. Monday...still there.... and now looking in the mirror theres a crease in the skin...ish... This isnt going to go away is it...  Tuesday...... right Stop being a coward..it might not be the big C.... but do you honestly think a) it's going to go away on it's own? b) you can carry on knowing it's there? ...

Wednesday: 9am emailed the surgery on their askmygp app.

Typed in " I've found a lump in my breast " ..cue tears...

Couple of hours pass while I try and concentrate on nothing much.

Call from clinician at the surgery..lots of questions about where it is, how big it is, does it move, is it attached, any redness, any discharge.

Referred to breast clinic. Usually two weeks but because of COVID...they are a bit behind ..could be 3 weeks.... . Be prepared they will probably do an ultra sound scan and a biopsy there and then.

Im not concerned about what they do ...liar... but the

.sooner the better. I just need to know what this is!! And hope it isnt what I think it is. No family history of BC..... everything crossed.

  • I hope so! My appointment is 5.40pm so I think it'll be a takeaway for afters. Dont particularly want to be up the hospital all evening but needs must!

I'll check in when I'm home with the update

I shall be keeping myself as busy as I can tomorrow

Good luck to all ladies with upcoming appointments and procedures

  • Ask your doc for something for anxiety. I did. I'm on Lorazepam x 1mg. Knock out pills.  Lost 2 hours on the sofa yesterday. Good luck tomorrow.

  • Good morning everyone, I've been following this thread closely and feel every ounce of anxiety you are all experiencing. I found a large lump in my right breast about a month ago, saw a GP, referred to one stop breast clinic very quickly, had mammogram, ultra sound, biopsies then back to see consultant who is absolutely wonderful. She said she thought it looked very much like cancer and results would be end of the week. Husband and I went for results and indeed it was cancer. A grade 3. Invasive ducal carcinoma with lobular pattern. I have since had micro bubble biopsy and an having MRI this evening. Luckily my husband has private health insurance with his job and I am included. I'm not knocking the NHS at all they are amazing but with this  cover I can attend a cancer treatment centre without the risk of being put back due to the virus. I also have a really awful arthritic hip which was about to be replaced but obviously that's on the back burner. Love to all of you ladies out there in your full battle dress you are amazing x x x

  • Hi ginger girl,

Thankyou for your comment, it's reassuring when we sort of know what to expect. That's the worse part not knowing. I've no clue what will happen later, I'm assuming it will be a check, mammagram and perhaps a biopsy no matter what they think it is. I'm assuming they will want to test for definite results.

Good luck for later also, please by all means keep us updated, we welcome your experience. Most of us are still awaiting first clinic appointment so completely in the dark

  • Hey Traciej just realised we both have evening appointments tonight, positive vibes and good luck. I must say I felt better knowing I was on the treadmill and something was being done about it. Dreading the MRI as you have to lie on your tummy and my hip hurts so much to lie like that. Needs must we will get there  x x x

  • We got this!

I'm feeling a bit sick now. Heading out in 20 mins! Catch you all later!

  • I'm just back from MRI, face down but not  too bad. Half way through scan dye injected into cannula at back of my hand, no music working on earphones so had the full clanking and crashing noise of the MRI. Lovely lovely people, so kind when I explained I'm not good at climbing on tables due to hip problem. Another tick to the treatment treadmill list. Next appointment for all the results and the plan for the surgery etc on Friday. Come on Traciej I want to hear some positive stuff
