Day one - found lump, referred to breast clinic

This morning has been a roller coaster. Couple of days ago I found a lump.... was it real  ? Maybe not...maybe it wont be there tomorrow ( monday) crack on..keep your mind occupied..dont think about it. Monday...still there.... and now looking in the mirror theres a crease in the skin...ish... This isnt going to go away is it...  Tuesday...... right Stop being a coward..it might not be the big C.... but do you honestly think a) it's going to go away on it's own? b) you can carry on knowing it's there? ...

Wednesday: 9am emailed the surgery on their askmygp app.

Typed in " I've found a lump in my breast " ..cue tears...

Couple of hours pass while I try and concentrate on nothing much.

Call from clinician at the surgery..lots of questions about where it is, how big it is, does it move, is it attached, any redness, any discharge.

Referred to breast clinic. Usually two weeks but because of COVID...they are a bit behind ..could be 3 weeks.... . Be prepared they will probably do an ultra sound scan and a biopsy there and then.

Im not concerned about what they do ...liar... but the

.sooner the better. I just need to know what this is!! And hope it isnt what I think it is. No family history of BC..... everything crossed.

  • Thanx girls,

Feel as sick as a dog tbh. And its raining.....again

  • Hi Whatnext64, good luck, I hope everything turns out well for you X

Hi Abundantcuriosity, yes, see your GP anyway.
I had a GP appointment for a new lump, pains between the arm pit and left breast, and pains in the right breast. I have had to wait 5 weeks for the hospital appointment, and two prior to that waiting for a letter for the appointment. Even if your lump is harmless or benign, or from an injury, you may have to wait for referral, and hopefully not as long as I have had to wait. Hopefully your doctor can say it doesn't need referring at all.

I have had a benign lump in my left breast since I was in my early 20's. I had a new benign lump in my right breast four years ago, that one has since grown, no pain but there is a mass, and I have 'mass' areas above my breasts below the collar bone. Non of this is to do with the menopause or periods because i'm 60. I've been in tears from internet searching, because a lot of what I read when I put in symptoms assumes you're still having periods. I'm glad to have found this forum, it makes me feel less alone, even though all our issues are different.

There are lots of benign breast conditions, and it's always worth checking.

    Good luck everyone XXX

  • Hi Traciej

We are all systems go!! Surgery to remove the nasty little *** by lumpectomy Nov 9th.

Feel sooooo much better now knowing how what why and when.

Will be bricking it on the day though.

Multitude of possible treatments depending on post op test results. ie: lymph  nodes are taken during surgery then sent off for tests.

  • That's great news whatsnext!! You now have a plan, glad you feel so much better! And so relieved I'm sure!

  • So glad you are getting your op so quickly and covid has not affected your treatment. You sound so much more positive now and I hope everything goes well and your recovery goes well. As you said they obviously knew what they saw but couldn't confirm it without a biopsy. I'm so sorry you are going through this but stay strong they aren't messing about and they will get you the best treatment for you xx

  •

    Hi Whatnext,

I am glad that you feel better now knowing what is going to be done. You will obviously have to wait until your post-op pathology results come back before treatment is decided upon. However, it is always good to get started and I'm glad to see that you don't have too long to wait.

I was bricking it when I had my lumpectomy and my bilateral mastectomy, but I found it a lot easier to get through than I expected - I'm sure that you will too.

    Kind regards,
    Jolamine xx

  • Hi everyone,

Jumping on the forum as I also am waiting for results.

I hope everyone gets their results quickly as the waiting is agonising.

I found a lump 6 weeks ago under my armpit/side boob, had ultrasound and biopsies last Wednesday, this revealed 2 cysts at the front of my boob but they were undetermined about the lump. Since my biopsy the lump is harder and more painful.

My hospital letter said that the lump is a U3 lesion, does anyone know what that means? I get the results next Wednesday and I am constantly feeling sick with worry.

    Sam xx

  • Hi Sam,

I am sorry to hear you are worrying, I understand this as I am going this worry myself. Today is my first appointment at the clinic and I am suddenly feeling really anxious about it, not sure why!

I am sorry I don't know anything about that so I can't offer anything but I am thinking of you and I hope you have good news come back next week!

  • Hi

Did you ask them what a U3 lesion is? Ring them Dd39 .everyones lumps and bumps arent the same.

Let us know what they say
