Pain after endometrial biopsy

Good morning, I had a transvaginal scan last week, and as it showed a thickened womb lining and fibroids, the consultant did an endometrial biopsy at the same time. That was 10 days ago, and although the bleeding stopped after a few days, I have a lot of pain in my vagina, sharp pains like sandpaper, and I can't sit down. I am post menopausal, not on HRT and have not been sexually active for 6 years so I am wondering if the pain may be due to vaginal atrophy? Did anyone else have pain for a week or so after a biopsy? How long did it take to subside? Thank you :)

  • I had a hysterocopy with an endometrial biopsy, multiple endometrial polyps removed and a cervical biopsy last week.  I had a general, but there were too many polys to remove in the end.  Consultant told me on the day that my smear had mild changes so that's why they did the cervix biospy too.  I'm still bleeding really heavily, very sore and uncomfortable.  Also stressed because waiting for all these biopsy results.  I also had a 24mm womb lining and had stopped bleeding for 4 months and then bled continuously for 2 months, only norethisterone stopped it for a couple of weeks. Really sympathise with anyone who is also going through this at the moment.  Finding it so difficult having to go to hospital alone due to Covid.  I am usually a positive person, but this has beat me this week.  I can't even be honest with my family and tell them that I am really worried sick. I'm nearly 52.

  • Hi I'm new here. I had a hysteroscopy in February this year. Lots of polyps were removed. But I never stopped bleeding so I had another ultrasound last Friday and my womb lining was as thick as it had been in January.  So this Monday I had a pipelle biopsy and a cervical biopsy too.  I am now awaiting results. My stomach is swollen and looks lopsided on the right has this happened to anyone else?

  • I am just reading all of this and freaking out! I had a Hysteroscope, removal of Polyps, biopsies and Minera coil fitted last week. They told me a couple of days and I will be back to normal. What a joke. Everyone who has posted on here is my situation. I have a swollen stomach, pain and still bleeding. It feels like they have got a metal scraper and whirled it round inside my womb.

  • I had a hysteroscopy on the 05.05.21 under general anesthetic as I have cervical stenosis to remove a polyp and take endometrial samples. My CA125 is a bit raised at 59. The op itself was fine and the nhs staff fabulous. Felt fine that day - a small amount of bleeding and cramping. Since then bleeding has increased and is now quite heavy and the pain is getting ridiculous and it's now almost a week later.  Recovery in a 'couple of days' is a joke - it doesn't seem thats realistic for most people.

  • For those of you who have had a Mirena Coil put in, and are in pain after a week or so, ask for the position of the coil to be checked.

I have Endometrial Hyperplasia and a coil was fitted in 2013. I was told it had been removed in 2018 but had numerous issues. They recently found the coil was inside me - out of position. I am certain that the post menopausal bleeding that I have had was due to the displaced coil. It was causing discomfort and bleeding when I exercised (rowing machine).

  • I had a Endometrial biopsy taken yesterday, very painful when the cells were taken, but bearable just!! Felt extreamly sick afterwards for several hours.

Today feel like I been kicked by a horse in my down below region, and finding it very uncomfortable to sit down.

Just hoping it eases in a day or to x x x

  • I had a hysteroscopy with a few biopsies on Monday (13/9/21). I was "ok" Monday and Tuesday so went back to my normal activities yesterday (a lot of driving) which is what the after care information indicated. I hadn't been bleeding, but am now in awful pain, bleeding and was in bed all day! I'm going to see how it goes tomorrow, but may call the outpatients team for advice

  • Hi, how did things turn our for you?

I am also  not sexually active. A week ago today, I was referred to gynaecology to what I thought was just a discussion. She then wanted to do a colposcopy, due to the findings of my vaginal scan which was thickness amd fluid. I had never heard of this procedure before. And then found I had a stenosis cervix, so gave me a local anaesthesia to 'force' her way through my cervix ... and then... did a pipelle biopsy. All of this totally unexpected, no leaflets or guidance, and left me in agony and spotting. I have been on antibiotics for the last week since. And I am now 2 days late for my period which usually regular, with stomach cramps and back pain so much worse than usual. I have no idea if any of this is normal.

I do hope you are well
