Worried about my symptoms

Hi all,

I've selfishly signed up to share my worries with you, I've tried speaking to my family but they all believe it is simply stress and exhaustion that's causing my problems due to a persistent heavy workload which has been going on for upwards of 18 months. Unfortunately, I know my body and I don't share their opinion.

Six weeks ago, I started with persistent headaches that would vary in levels of pain and location. Two weeks later that I developed a sore throat, a swollen/stiff neck and back pain. A week ago that progressed into chest pain, tenderness in both my sides below my ribs, as well as a bloated stomach. Last night I found a lump/swollen lympnode in my right clavicle.

I've seen GPs with varying levels of success, at its worst they refuse to look at my throat, which still hasn't been examined, or focus in on one symptom ignoring the rest. I understand COVID has an impact, but they can now go to the pub after they've finished work, but they can't look at my throat  I've got myself tested for COVID, which was negative. I have been booked in for, and had, a head CT but I've yet to get the results. I'm half expecting it to come back normal, as all my blood tests and urine tests have done thus far, which would be a blessing but still doesn't leave me with any answers.

I am neither fit nor unhealthy, but I do keep active and I eat well. I've already made lifestyle changes to give myself the best chance should the worst be confirmed.

Oh and to top it off, I broke my little toe on Sunday

Any and all replies appreciated.

  • Quick update...

Saw the GP about the lump, I'm told it's a reactive lymph node and to wait 6 weeks and see if it goes away. They did look at my throat only to tell me it looks ok, which is it odds with how it feels.

I've also had a letter from the neurologist, in which he states that the headaches are being caused by issues with the muscles and bones in my neck. I'm a little miffed, as I've only ever had one phone call with him, no physical examination. I guess the CT results will shed some light.. just need to keep my mind active and be patient.

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

  • Long time no update... sadly I'm no better.

The head CT results came back normal and I've had an ultrasound on my abdomen, but I don't have the results.
I'm now awaiting an appointment for an ultrasound on my neck, which will be followed up with an endoscope.

I've found a pea sized lump in front of my right ear, which I've contacted the doctor about. But I'm now getting pain in my right armpit.

I am pretty concerned at the moment, but the symptoms are so fluid I think that most people think I'm attention seeking! I'll have an incredibly sore throat for a few days, which will ease off only to be replaced by something else. Most recently I've developed a blocked nose, but it's only bothering my left nostril.

Grateful for any advice or anyone that's going through similar and wants to chat.

  • Continuing to self-document this stuff as it makes me feel a little more human when I write it all down.

The blocked nose turned out to be a cold, which I've caught from a family member. The armpit pain continues, but now includes the left and right, along with the groin. The aches and pains in the rest of my body continue as well...

I've phoned the GP this morning for the abdomen ultrasounds results, but the receptionist wouldn't tell me and said I need to talk to the GP

I'm now waiting for a call back...

  • Hi whoopiemonster

Glad your getting tests done, as you say you know your own body. Keep on at them.

Years ago i was having problems just knew something wasn't right, had loads of blood tests ECG's scans nothing showed, had to pack up work, six months later granddaughter came to see how i was (my wife had had a brakedown thinking i was dieing of cancer) straight away she took me to A&E, they sent me to Dr, Dr booked an ambulance, laying in hospital bed specialist I've been seeing for months says we think we know what's wrong so i get a completely different type of blood test and with an hour I'm on medication and feeling alot better,

What ever happens if you don't feel right keep fighting to get checked out.

    Best wishes for the future.

    Billy

  • Thanks Billy! I'm glad to hear you are on the mend! Just had a message from the GP saying all results are normal, which is a relief. But I'd love to figure out what's wrong with me.

  • Hello, did you find out anything else? I have armpit pain and groin pain too. But no lumps. Panicking something is wrong with me! x
