Possible Cervical Cancer - all the symptoms

Hi all,

I'm posting here as have been reading on some of the forums but cannot find a suitable match for my situation. I've also seen how supportive everyone is and could really do with some gentle reassurance right now.

I had my son 3 years ago and on returning to the pill, I was prescribed Rivegedon. I didn't get on very well with it so after about 6 months, I was prescribed microgynon which I had always taken before, 3 months back to back due to endometriosis.

Around 2 months in to taking the pill, I noted some bleeding which had never happened before and when I googled it, I put it down to levels of hormones. Months, years passed and I kept getting this two monthly bleeding which in time, gradually became more frequent to one month. Intermittently I would also get this thick, yellow discharge which smells horrendous and sometimes white discharge in a bowel movement. In the last 4 months, the bleeding has happened every 2 weeks so I thought it was time to book myself in to the doctor.

She examined me two/three weeks ago but was bleeding at the time so she took some swabs for chlamydia and other STIs which I know I dont have as I am married and am barely active with my poor husband.

Anyway, she rang me on Thursday to see how I was and I explained in the last week I had bled for two days, then clear for two, then bled again for two with a small darkish clot on Wednesday when I wiped. She told me my tests were negative and that I should come in for another examination as I was not bleeding that particular day.

Upon examination, she told me that she could see what she could only describe as ulcer on my cervix and wanted to refer me on the two week pathway so here I am, waiting for an appointment and fearing the worst.

Has anyone else been in the same situation or currently in the same situation? I'm worried sick and am posting as after two days of no bleeding, I'm bleeding again moderately heavy and it's set me off crying.

Apologies for the long post and would be ever so grateful for some feedback xx

  • Hi lovely my symptoms were the same as you are getting now, I was going to go private after I found out because the scans were taking ages to give me appointments and we was so anxious but it gets confusing because private hospitals want letters from the nhs doctors so I just kept on & on with the nhs and then got all my scans, I won't find out if it's gone till a few months because the radiotherapy flares things up and makes it look worse than it ever was, but my treatment works well with that sort of cancer and mine was very small stage one, you find the strength sweetie, doing it on your own is tough but you meet lovely people and my kids pull me through

I have to see the doctor on the 20th of this month just to see how I am! Xxxxxx

  • Hi lovely how did you get on at the doctors hope your ok x

  • hi, I’ve been reading your post. Like you I’m post menopause ( ten years ) . I’ve had all your sysmptoms except I have a pink discharge rather than bleeding. Did you find eating different, I find I can only eat small amounts.

I haven’t seen a doctor yet because it’s not really bleeding and to be honest I’m terrified. I had an accident many years ago that left me with a lot of back and leg pain which I take pain meds for, so I can’t be sure if the pain I feel is a symptom or not. That’s why I’m asking about eating. Also did you legs swell. I’m so sorry for the lengthy post.

    sally.

  • Hi Sally

I’m so sorry you are feeling so worried. I recognise the fear...and not going to the doctor. I put it off for months and months and wasn’t even registered with the surgery. Thinking back, I suppose my eating did change in that my appetite lessened, but I also discovered when I had scans that I had gallstones and had been having gall bladder attacks. I didn’t have any issues with my legs swelling.

All I can say is please, please find the courage to go to the doctor and have your symptoms investigated. Any type of bleeding, pinky discharge is a real red flag after menopause and once I registered with the doctor I was seen the next day and things moved quickly from there. I wish with hindsight that I had gone much earlier and maybe saved myself some of what I’ve been through since. I’m not saying for a minute that I think you have cancer, but it’s much better to see the doctor and put your mind at rest. x

  • Hey can anyone help??

ive been having pains in my pelvis area foe like a month now the pain gets so bad it starts to hurt on my leg too, I also get back pain and on the left side of my abdomen I get sharpe pain sometimes for ages or a few minutes ive also been peeing a lot more then usual sometimes every hour and I don't even go a lot when I do I've spoke to doctors and they blame it on my PCOS but I'm really worried I don't have any bleeding or anything but the pain in getting are a few symptoms of cervical cancer and I just can't stop thinking about it on my mind

    would love some feedback thanks

  • Hey! I hope everything is well with you.

I just want to ask, where abouts did you have leg pain? Calf or thighs? I am experiencing some symptoms of CC, with sore thighs, lower back and pelvic pain I suffered with lower back and pelvic pain during pregnancy, my daughter is now 15 months and I still have it so don't know if it's carried on from my pregnancy or if it's CC. Tbh I would describe it more as Pubic bone pain.. but I don't know what the differences are or if that just comes under pelvic pain anyway! I'm booked in for a smear in 2 weeks time but I can't stop worrying

    thanks xx

  • Hi can I ask you what other symptoms you had. I'm due an examination tonight at doctors,. I have found a large growth just as you enter the vagina, and also a ledge like lump of my cervix.

I am worries but thankful they are seeing me so quickly.

I have had bad back pain some pelvic pain and some discharge clear.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as am so worried.

I had my smear in September and was normal so hoping if is something sinister it wont be that far advanced.

I have had severe dysakrois 12 years ago and a loop incision about 4 years ago and have had annual smears since

  • Hi laura

I have just had a message about my swab and I have strepTococcal infection unsure what this is caused by. It may be the over due coil I dont know. Still waiting for my colposcopy appointment to check lump a d abnormal bleeding I hope it arrives soon

The Gp originally said the Lump could be scarring off my loop incision but she was struggling to get to it or see anything that day

  • Hi [@Jt86]‍ i know this is an old post but can I ask how you got on last year? I'm having very similar symptoms to you ever since I had my smear in March

Im constantly crying and fearing the worst. Some days I'll bleed all morning then barely nothing at night, then just spotting some days, then back to bleeding again. I'm so scared

  • Hi hun

Did you get to the bottom of your bad pelvis pain? I had a smear done last Friday and they found a mass on my cervix and ever since I've been getting the worst pelvis pain like agony pain.

I go and see a cancer specialist on Monday and I am terrified I can't see the outcome being good with all my symptoms.

I hope all ended up OK for you hun xx
