Clear blood tests could it still be the worst?

Good morning,

I've recieved good news this morning that my blood tests are all good. Should this lift a weight off my shoulders for my appointment on Thursday? Is it possible to recieve clear blood tests but still recieve bad news? Thank you for any advice.

  • Hi L85 and welcome to the forum.

That's great news about your blood test results. Hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar situation will share their advice and experiences with you soon but in the meantime we just wanted to wish you good luck for tomorrow.

We'll have our fingers crossed the good news continues.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi L85

I am not a doctor, but I've had two early stage cancers treated - and so far, so good.

Clear blood tests are a very good sign, but without some clue which cancer your doctor (or you) suspects, and how wide ranging a set of blood tests you've had, then it's impossible to say for certain.  Blood tests give a lot of general information about the body, MRIs and CTs are marvellous machines for looking inside you, but sometimes it's necessary to get a biopsy needle, take some cells, and look at them under a microscope.

Presumably you went to the doctor because you were feeling ill, and you still need some diagnosis to explain why you're feeling that way.  So even if cancer is off the table, you still need an answer.

  • Hi,

Thank  you for replying.  I probably could have given more detail in my first post sorry. I went for my smear on Friday 12th and I was told my cervix looked angry. After 3 different opinions They  took some swabs to see if it was infection and referred me to gynaecological oncology. I recieved my appointment on the tue and all my extra tests came back all fine. I went for the bloods last Thursday and all came back fine on Monday. I'm going out of my mind worrying. I have 2 children and I'm 35.

    what else could it be?

    Thanks.

  • Hi L85

I am not medically qualified, but have had cervical cancer twice. Blood tests were a feature of original testing, but not to indicate or rule out cancer. As far as I am aware there is no blood test for cervical cancer, and mine have all been to check on kidney function and general health. Are you able to say what the extra tests were you had carried out? I would take heart from the fact that those results were clear and in addition your blood tests are not showing anything unusual. However it’s difficult to give more useful information without additional details of the tests you have had carried out. Is your appointment with a gynaecologist? x
