Lump in front of ear

I was just cleaning out my ears (I know, gross) and I noticed that right where my top jaw meats my bottom jaw is a rather large lump.. maybe the size of a 2p in diameter? It doesn't hurt unless I massage it and doesn't seem to move at all. Not the same on my left side at all, its flat on that side so I don't feel like it is supposed to be there... would you recommend getting it checked out?

  • Am kinda having the same stuff.

Though I had the node since very young and never bothered me to be honest ! Mine is tender, painless but moves well under the skin, like I could pass my finger under it (I know gross) but since maybe February/March it has gone double sized and so am doing a check in July finally ( why does it happen during this virus crisis !!) could be due to stress maybe... will see !

Obviously am pretty anxious about it but for peace of mind I do a check !

  • Yeah mine doesn't move and its quite tender to touch but I think it's cause I've been messing with it. I'm gonna ring the docs in the morning and hopefully I'll get it checked out. It hurts more today and I'm struggling to open my jaw

  • I have same only one side and other side is flat ! It could be caused also by anything like infection to a teeth or infection somewhere else that your body is busy is fighting without you knowing - or anything else ! yes just stop touching it :) !

And forget about it if you can and get checked by your doctor and like if it doesn’t go like me just get it checked with a referral ! Think positive !

    I know it’s been a while but I have updates !

So they found i had a benign tumor (adénome pleomorph) and so about 3 weeks ago now I had the surgery !

I did it back in france because service was quicker than in UK.

i was told after the MRI i would see the surgeon in London but they never contacted me back in August and so decided to pass It on to my surgeon in France.

i got the surgery (done in the morning and back home in the eve for healing) & so they removed a bit of my parotide on the left side but I can still smile, eat etc as normal !! Just lost a bit of touch feeling in my ear and around but it will come back at some point...(Surgeon was great too!) it was painful the first few days and got some antibios - but now I don’t take anything.

i am healing pretty well but I still have an effusion of lymphatic liquid and will have a drain & antibios to help but hopefully it will stop at some point !! But going it’s gone forever !

  • I've found a small lump infront of my ear just last night it's knly

noticeable when I open my mouth wide but when it's closed I can feel the very small pea sized lump. The doctor told me it's most likely viral. How did you find out yours was cancerous?

  • Hi there,

My GP told me to wait for 2 weeks to see the size decrease. Obviously it did not and so I asked for X-ray !

    Mine was 3x3x2.5cm :$.

Gp sent me for X-ray  and they couldn’t even see what it was ( like what was inside !...) though at the same time they took a biopsy ! I think i had to wait maybe a month or so to get the X-ray, as I guess due to covid it’s bit slow...

(It was on a Friday and I got result on the Monday following ! Like it was likely benign (they always keep the last percents une case of malignant !)

Then did a MRI to see if it touch the facial nerves too in August and never met the surgeon in Uk. So I sent everything  to a surgeon I met in France ! And here I am !

  • Was your lump noticeable? And did you have any side effects with it?

  • No it was not, nobody would knew - but it’s kept growing - and it was not hurtful or anything as I had it for years ! It was located in the corner of my jaw by the mandibule corner, slightly lower than my ear.

  • Thank you. Mine is right infront of the ear lobe so slightly higher than the jaw bone. I'm going to give it another few weeks to see if it grows any. Just because I'm experiencing some fatigue and my glands feel abit swollen and tender. It's more the fear of not knowing what it is

  • Hello, sorry to trouble, but I've found a hard pea sized lump infront of my ear lobe on jaw line like you, I'm worried sick about it, I've rang the doctors and they want me to wait and see if it goes away on it's own. But I've been on google and made my self ill with anxiety now.

did you get to the bottom of yours?

    thanks
