Rectal bleeding? Likelihood of being Cancer?

Hello,

I just wondered if anyone could give me some advice or peace of mind really, and i dont want to waste anyone's time so feel a bit embarrassed about even posting here but i am just so stressed i dont know who else to talk to.

On the 9th of May I started having rectal bleeding, i dont believe i'd strained as ive always been shall we say 'efficient'. Anyway, i ignored it and hoped it would go away but then on the 20th of May i felt like i needed to get some medical advice so saw my GP. Rectal exam was all clear and she sent me for bloods and a feacal sample, the results for those came back as 'relatively normal' except for low iron which she gave me tablets for and said was due to the blood loss i was experiencing.
Since seeing the GP i've had on off stomach pains in my lower left side, and now everytime i eat I get really bad tummy pain.

The last time i bled was the morning of sunday the 31st of June and as you can imagine i was relieved to not see blood anymore, then later that evening i started shaking uncontrollably and felt dizzy and just off really so went to the walk in centre (i thought maybe it could be a reaction to the iron tablets maybe), the walk in sent me via ambulance to a different hospital as my heart was sky high and they said i was showing signs of shock...all a bit out of the blue and scary to me if im honest...

At the hospital i explained that the beleding had stopped that morning and about the stomach pain etc etc, and one of the doctors really listened to me and gave me a thorough examination and said he was keeping me in over night but that he definitely thought my symptoms were worth further investigating as he thinks possible IBD or even though i'm 25 and he said it's less likely, he also wants to be able to rule out bowel/rectal cancer.

Then the surgeon consultant came around in the morning, didnt examine me, looked me up and down and said 'youre young it will be hemorrhoids, now let's get you out of here'.

Ofcourse as 25 years old I am hoping it is hemorrhoids but can they cause this much stomach pain? Can they cause youre body to go into shock? Should I be content with waiting 3 weeks for a sigmoidoscopy or should i be pushing for more investigation? I don't know if i'm just a bit drained and weepy so being a bit sensitive with it all, i just wondered if anyone else has had a similar experience and everything has turned out to be okay? Or a similar experience and youve had to push for investigations to get your answers?

Sorry if i've wasted anyones time and i hope youre all okay x

    Hi E25

    Sorry your exoeriencing this.

Try not to worry  as  hard as it is  , not to.

The consultant may be right it may vety well be plies, even if thiere not  visible to.you , as you can get internal plies as well as external piles.  Internal pliles are much higher up and you  cant see or feel.them yourself . There are many conditions of the bowels that can make you bleed, rectal fissure..that is a tiny tear that may have bern caused by just goong to number 2, its not anything to worry about. There are more serious conditions, ulcerative colitis, ( which i had at age 18 and believe me the symotoms are much worse , constantly being sick, and dioreah and pain so bad i couldnt hardly walk.Crones disease which is very simular , thry thought thats what mine was at first.

I really do.think your stomach pains are caused by your anxiety, and you didnt say if the blood you were losing was bright red.if it is thats a good signn, its when its very dark almost black thats not so good.

I have had a lot of colonoscopys 39 of them .i kept getting poyos , which can  also cause yiu to bleed.  Ive had a bowel.ressection in 2015 on the right side.Im no expert  but ive had a lot of problems in that area.

I do hope ive helped you , as i said  stess can really play havoc with your stomach and cause lots of pains .

Hoping  you are feeling a lot less stressful and you get some answers soom. X Do let me know how you get on and im.sensimg you some positive vibes. X

Hi i hope your anxiety levels have dropped and the pains you were experiencing have subsided.Im glad my reply to you helped put your mind at rest, stress and anxiety can cause all sorts of pains .

But my one advice to you is do keep am eye on things , and if you start to bleed blood  that is very dark and pass black stools , or  start to feel realy unwell then do go back to your Gp.

Im still sure anxiety has played a great part in you feeling so unwell.

But if it is plies and you exoerience them between your anus and they get sore try to buy some anusol hemaroid cream .it helps  shrink  them.and helps to  ease.the pain.Another way to drastically help although can be painfull  to do, but really helps if you  can go through the pain is to get a bag of ice , wrap it in a towel and sit on it, it kills at first but eventually it freezes the pain as it shrinks the plies.

Other than  that  if they really  still trouble you, you can ask for them to be shrunk by injections or have them.removed by surgery.

Hopefully your feeling much  better now and wont need to try any of my advise. But its there if you need it.

    Take care .x
