Hello,
I just wondered if anyone could give me some advice or peace of mind really, and i dont want to waste anyone's time so feel a bit embarrassed about even posting here but i am just so stressed i dont know who else to talk to.
On the 9th of May I started having rectal bleeding, i dont believe i'd strained as ive always been shall we say 'efficient'. Anyway, i ignored it and hoped it would go away but then on the 20th of May i felt like i needed to get some medical advice so saw my GP. Rectal exam was all clear and she sent me for bloods and a feacal sample, the results for those came back as 'relatively normal' except for low iron which she gave me tablets for and said was due to the blood loss i was experiencing.
Since seeing the GP i've had on off stomach pains in my lower left side, and now everytime i eat I get really bad tummy pain.
The last time i bled was the morning of sunday the 31st of June and as you can imagine i was relieved to not see blood anymore, then later that evening i started shaking uncontrollably and felt dizzy and just off really so went to the walk in centre (i thought maybe it could be a reaction to the iron tablets maybe), the walk in sent me via ambulance to a different hospital as my heart was sky high and they said i was showing signs of shock...all a bit out of the blue and scary to me if im honest...
At the hospital i explained that the beleding had stopped that morning and about the stomach pain etc etc, and one of the doctors really listened to me and gave me a thorough examination and said he was keeping me in over night but that he definitely thought my symptoms were worth further investigating as he thinks possible IBD or even though i'm 25 and he said it's less likely, he also wants to be able to rule out bowel/rectal cancer.
Then the surgeon consultant came around in the morning, didnt examine me, looked me up and down and said 'youre young it will be hemorrhoids, now let's get you out of here'.
Ofcourse as 25 years old I am hoping it is hemorrhoids but can they cause this much stomach pain? Can they cause youre body to go into shock? Should I be content with waiting 3 weeks for a sigmoidoscopy or should i be pushing for more investigation? I don't know if i'm just a bit drained and weepy so being a bit sensitive with it all, i just wondered if anyone else has had a similar experience and everything has turned out to be okay? Or a similar experience and youve had to push for investigations to get your answers?
Sorry if i've wasted anyones time and i hope youre all okay x
