I am also 30 and had my appointment today at the breast clinic. Unfortunately you have to go alone as they were not allowing my partner to join today. 

It was fine I was seen by a surgeon who examined my breasts. I then went for a ultrasound and they decided they wanted to a core needle biopsy. I was then see by the surgeon again and given time to ask any question 

I was reassured that given my age it's unlikely cancer and given another appointment in a couple weeks for my biopsy results at which time we can discuss treatment for my lump depending on the diagnosis. 

They were very reassuring and friendly. Didn't feel stressed at all during the appointment and left fairly confident I am fine.

I accompanied my wife (66) to a one-stop shop around this time last year. 

She received an appointment for about one week after seeing the GP who referred her.

After a fairly short wait we were shown in, and a very pleasant doctor and nurse took a case history then examined my wife and did an ultrasound scan there and then.  We were asked to wait outside and she would be called in for the mammogram.  A few minutes after the mammogram, she was called back and a further mammogram taken.  As you can imagine, this was a little worrying but it seems that there was a technical issue first time - hence the need for the repeat.

After about 15 (nervous) minutes, the doctor came out and fetched us from the waiting room, as we were walking back, he whispered to my wife "You're fine."  Back in his office, we went through the images, but we'd already heard what we really needed to hear.

Much relieved, we wandered to the hospital coffeeshop for some much needed refreshment, then happily took a taxi back home. 

The take home point here, is that most people who get referred to two-week clinic for any reason turn out not to have cancer.

Hi ithink everyone's exoeriences at the breast  clinic are simular but obviously different as well, as not everyone's symptoms are the same.

You will be asked what your symptoms are ec

Example...if you have found a lump, if you have pain or swellinhg .inverted nipoles or skin changes on the beeast or an inverted  nipple or if you are exoeriencing any discharge fluid  comung out of the nipples. 

It really depends on what you are experiencing as to what will be done. They will probably  look at both breasts and compare them to each other ie ...looking for things like is one looking different to the other.

You may have a managram or an ultrasound , or both. You may need  biopsies taken if they find  hard  solid lump , but not all lumps are cancerous it could be a cyst.or you could have inflammation of the breast which can be treated. 

Try not to worry  and it may be better than you think .Good luck , hope you get good news .x

I've had an appointment today following a referral from my GP. As I'm sure is the case with most people, it's been a long and anxious two weeks where I've been imagining the worst. 

I saw a nurse first who asked lots of questions and did an examination, after which she told me that it was highly likely that it was cyst. She was very friendly and put me at ease. She explained that she was going to send me for a mammogram and an ultrasound and that if it was a cyst I'd be discharged without having to see her again. In the event that it was something else, or that they had to take a biopsy, I'd have to come back down to see her. 
 

The ladies who did the mammogram/ultrasound were both really friendly and made me feel so relaxed. I was seen very quickly too. The outcome for me was that it was indeed a cyst. 
 

I know it's easier said than done but try not to worry.

Im so pleased you got good news and it was just a cyst.

I didn't mention to you on my first reply to.your post as I didn't  want to worry you unnecessarily, but i had allready  been diognosed on the 20th zMay the same day that  id gone  to the breast clinic , after 3 mamagrans nothing showed up , but an ultrasound picked it up.and then i had  5 biopsies taken and a metal coil marker clip inserted into my breast, all done on that day, i was  told there and then i had breast cancer.and it has spread to my lympth nodes. 

It was confirmed  a week later on.the 26thMay by telephone call from my consultant. 

Ive had bone scsn on the 27th May and a CT scan on the 28th  May . So im waiting on the results to see if it has gone and where else.

good to hear that everything is fine for you. But can I ask what were your symptoms means why were you referred to breast clinic. As I am going next week for my first appointment. I have nipple discharge milky. And painful breast.

Hi, yes, I found a lump about 2cm under my left nipple. It was an oval shape and quite big.  There was no pain or any other any other symptoms though. It's a really worrying time and no matter how many times people tell you to not worry, it's impossible not to. But just be assured that the appointment itself is nothing to worry about, they are so supportive and put you at ease immediately.
