Worried I have lymphoma

My dad died from lymphoma over 6 years ago. I'm currently waiting to see ENT as an urgent referral from my GP. Should be within two weeks from 6th May but who knows with covid. Symptoms started two months ago. Fatigue, low grade temps up to 38 and enlarged neck glands. Blood tests normal except for showing low iron. I'm on meds for that now. They ran an inflammation test. Normal. So now I'm waiting to be seen. I've not lost weight. Still have a good appetite but for two months I'm still getting low grade temps and enlarged neck glands. They don't hurt to touch but my neck can feel achey. Has anyone with lymphoma ever started out with similar symptoms?

  • Poor you going through all this. I'm glad you're in the system and will be seen and tested to hopefully rule this out. My dad had lymphoma and the Gp thought I may well do, but it turns out all my symptoms have been due to Coronavirus! Mine haven't been typical covid symptoms and for a long time I couldn't be tested. Happy to chat if you ever want to. Life can be so stressful. You never know, might even turn out as something like covid even. But it's right to be tested. My glands were up and down for ages and some felt permanently raised. Think it was my body fighting this covid. Wishing you all the best and do update xxxx

  • Ohh im glad to heat there is nothing sinister. I have to wait 48 hours for my result from covid. What tests did they do on you? Im very sad to hear about your dad

its surprising that a covid temperature will last this long like two months right?

  • Hi yes, in fact it's just over two months. They said for some people low grade temps and lethargy can last several months. It's a new virus and I guess they're learning all the time. A friend told me yesterday she had my same symptoms from December until the end of March. Her son did too. They felt breathless and got diagnosed with asthma. They now think it was likely covid. I had tons of blood tests, covid, ultrasound, X-ray. They finally told me it's the Coronavirus. So hopefully yours will be something similar too. With low grade temps, glands up and lethargy my doctor really began to suspect lymphoma as did I! Xx

  • So glad you know what the problem is now and it's not lymphoma and also seems like you've got quite a positive reaction to this virus! My prescription hasn't got to my doctors yet but due to bank holiday I'll see if it's there Tuesday and if kit I'll give them a call! I don't think mine is anything like a virus as I've had these symptoms since December. My nodes aren't large but there's quite a few I can feel and my collarbone worries me and my throat always feels swollen so we will see what happens. Just such scary time waiting to find out if it's something like lymphoma as if you had the diagnosis you could shield with the virus but I can't and my fiancé works for London emergency services so I'm just hoping for the best. For my little boy hope you recover soon xx

  • Hi just wanted to update that covid came back negative... i really do not know what else to ask for? What other tests..?

  • Hi, I strongly think you have Coronavirus. The hospital told me that many tests come back negative if they're not done in rhe first week of onset of symptoms. Your symptoms sound so much like mine. Today I can't get my temp below 38.1 with paracetamol and dihydracodeine. Feel quite bad today with it. I've also heard from quite a few people on my FB that they have had the same symptoms. Ongoing fever for over two months, lethargy etc. Also through work I've heard a couple of people with the exact same symptoms. What I find with this virus is that I can feel like I'm getting better and then I go back downhill again. The hospital told me I can mention it to my GP if I'm still getting fevers in a month or two but from what they're learning, this can for some people really get in their system and go on for some months. I hope this might give you some reassurance but don't hesistate to contact your GP again if you're not sure. Have they done blood cultures to check you don't have bacteria in your blood? X

  • They have checked full blood count, liver, urea and electrolites, c reactive protein, thyroid and amylase level... they all came back fine. Also had a urine sample and i will probably go on tuesday for a chest xray. I will call gp on Tuesday and demand that she sees me because my throat is red and sometimes it feels tight. Do you have this throat problem too? Also my temperature seems to be 37.6 when i wake up and if i am busy doing something then it will go up... i wonder how long will this fever last as it is so annoying as if it reaches 38 i feel hot and sweaty

    xx

  • Also i heard glandular fever can cause sore throat/fever... did they check for that too? Also some of my lymph nodes feel bigger on my neck so need to get gp to check them.

also does your temperature go a bit down at nightime like from 9pm mine goes to 37.3/4 if not active

  • Hi. I had glandular fever 16 years ago and the antibodies for that  showed up in a blood test. When I was checked for that 16 years ago it didn't show up at first as you have to build up antibodies if you don't get tested within a certain time frame. Your symptoms really do sound like mine except I've not had a sore throat. But again, a sore throat and tight feeling all links to Coronavirus too. They asked me if I'd had those symptoms but I hadn't. I hope you get some answers soon but GF and Covid don't always show up when tested. It would be interesting if in time you can get an antibody test because then that would show if you've had it. My temp does fluctuate. It seems to go up if I do really simple things. So today I woke up with 37.7. I struggled to do anything for half the day. It went up as I walked around a bit. It's been like this since mid March xx

  • Omg i have the same thing. If i just play with my little ones my fever will get high a little or just doing simple things... also i get a sinus headache and lightheaded sometimes. I do wonder if it is corona virus how long will this fever last? My temp started same as your middle of march... xx
