Worried I have lymphoma

My dad died from lymphoma over 6 years ago. I'm currently waiting to see ENT as an urgent referral from my GP. Should be within two weeks from 6th May but who knows with covid. Symptoms started two months ago. Fatigue, low grade temps up to 38 and enlarged neck glands. Blood tests normal except for showing low iron. I'm on meds for that now. They ran an inflammation test. Normal. So now I'm waiting to be seen. I've not lost weight. Still have a good appetite but for two months I'm still getting low grade temps and enlarged neck glands. They don't hurt to touch but my neck can feel achey. Has anyone with lymphoma ever started out with similar symptoms?

  • I found a lump in my neck just under my chin I've been to doc had bloods done normal got a scan 2 moz 15.5.20 symptoms tired ,weight loss.no appetite, itchy skin ,aching neck and shoulder notice this lump  in feb

  • Poor you. Let me know how you get on! Did all your symptoms start at once or have they progressed to things like no appetite? Mine pretty much all started at once and have stayed this way. X

  • Hello there!

i have been having the same symptoms as you since end of March. I had bloods done which came back fine. Now i need to do a chest x ray and urine sample and a covid test which I doubt i have as i had a temperature for nearly two months now. Gp didn't examine me yet so dont know if i have any lumps....

did u have ur ent appointment? I hope it went well. I have Also health anxiety and i was reading online that anxiety can actually cause low grade fevers....

i hope to hear from you soon :)

  • Hi, sorry to hear you're suffering too! I had a neck ultrasound yesterday which didn't show any lymphoma type glands so they sent me home. But my GP called me and said he's now arranged for me to go to ambulatory care tomorrow because two months of low grade fevers isn't normal. So I have to get there for 9am and have whatever tests they want to give me. So far I've not had a covid test as they couldn't give me one at my surgery. I wonder if they will test me for that tomorrow. It seems crazy not to have done. I expect I will have imaging done but I'm only guessing. I just hope they get to the bottom of this because I have no idea what's wrong. Good luck for you! Let me know how it all goes. Remember one day at a time. That's what I tell myself. If you have bad anxiety can you ask for some diazepam? I took some when I went for my neck ultrasound as I was terrified what they would say. Helped to keep me calm before I went in. Xxx

  • Hello thanks for getting back to me

anyone can now do the covid test if you go to nhs site and type covid test it gives you options of places you can go and get it done by post code it shows you places where you can go. But do you think covid will cause constant low grade fevers for more than a month?
im giving in a urine sample tomorrow and doing covid test.

let me know how it goes with you

wish you all the best for tomorrow :)

  • Oh wow I didn't realise anyone can do the test now. Thanks for letting me know. My GP doesn't think it's covid as I haven't had a sore throat or cough, my temps are low grade and have been persistent for two months. Also we are a family of 6 and no one else has been unwell. So, I have to go to ambulatory care today and will see what tests they do and update you when I know furrther.

    Xxx

  • I hope it goes well for you today

  • Hello

How did it go today? What tests did they do?
ive just done my covid test today and urine sample. Ill try and get my chest xray tomorrow.. today i woke up with 37.6 fever and it went up to 38.1 as i was in the car and it was hot ....

I dont really know what can cause this fever..

  • Hiya!! I've been having symptoms since December ! Not all of the same as yours though but I have been worried about the possibility of lymphoma!!

I feel like my gp have been a bit rubbish! they organised an ultrasound and bloods/swabs. All which said reactive nodes and fine so they left me be.. told me it's because I'm skinny and if I want my tonsils checked I would have to go to a&e!

however, my dentist also referred me to maxiofacial and I have somehow managed to be referred to an ENT consultant with a specialty in head and neck cancers so I'm really going to go with what he says and trust him because I think he would know!! I had my first telephone call today and he was lovely (albeit my toddler decided to sit on me mid lap and kiss me so my doctor may think I'm blowing him kisses haha)

my symptoms have been palpable "but not enlarged" lymph nodes in my neck, serval of them under my jaw further down my neck, my collarbone (google says it basically lymphoma nothing else oh or metastatic cancer) and largish node in my armpit (both sides left side is worse) my throat is sore and swollen every single day! My ears hurt and my tonsils have an ugly looking blister thing which my new consultant thinks is a cyst (only going by pictures) but gp said So many times puss antibiotics which he said no, it's not puss and I'm glad I rejected my last load of antibiotics to waste money on and ruin my resistance lol!

sooooo, my new consultant has organised I try some anti reflux medication for a couple of weeks and have an MRI and have a look again in 4 weeks! He said I shouldn't be feeling so many lumps since December !!

I stupidly go all shy and nervous on the phone and downplay my symptoms (that and having a 17 month bouncing on you) makes it difficult to focus and stress the pain so I forgot to mention bits but I'm so happy the ball is rolling and I hope I'm in the right hands !! Keep pushing for answers! I'm 24 so I worry they don't take me seriously !! Xxx

  • Poor you! It turns out I've been suffering from Coronavirus! They gave me so many tests including a chest X-ray. My GP had worried I had lymphoma and didn't suspect covid as my symptoms have been going on so long, low grade temps up to 38 on a daily basis, but I've not had a sore throat or a cough. The hospital told me it could take me a while to recover as for some people it can go on for several months. A bit like getting over glandular fever, which took me a long time to get over some years back. They said they're seeing a lot of patients with symptoms like mine and they're learning all the time the different ways this virus presents itself in people. It could well be that you've had this virus. Your covid test might come back negative but that doesn't mean you haven't had it. For some people it's most reliable in the first week or so of symptoms. Good luck. Keep me posted! Xx
