Lumps in both breasts

Hi, just looking for some advice and wondering if anyone has experienced something similar.
I'm 20 years old and noticed a hard lump/area of hard tissue on the upper centre of my right breast. My boyfriend also felt it. I immediately felt panicked, as I have never noticed this before. I can only feel the lump when I'm sticking my chest out with my shoulders back. When I'm lay down or stood normally I can't feel the lump/hard area of tissue. I called the GP and had a telephone appointment due to the coronavirus and she has referred me to the breast clinic. My appointment is on Thursday. I cannot stop crying and fearing the worst, I keep convincing myself that it is soemthing bad. I have been feeling both boobs everyday and noticed that on my left boob there is also a hard area and small lump. This is similar to the area on the right boob however not exactly the same. It worries me more that I the lumps feel hard and don't appear to move.
thansk for any advice in advance x

  • Hi

As someone who is coming out the other end of breast cancer now (treatment not totally over until Nov) Ive made it a thing of mine to regularly check on this forum any posts that pop up and stand out to me to see if I can help anyone. Your post is one of them.

All I want to say is please feel free to message me if it is bad news. I will be happy to be here if you need to talk. Also, more importantly, good luck tomorrow.

  • Hi, thank you so much for replying to this, I really appreciate it. I am so happy that you are nearing the end of your treatment and it's so kind that you are offering your support to others. I will post an update in here tomorrow after my appointment and will definitely take you up on your offer if it is bad news.  Can I ask what your symptoms were and how your journey has been? Thank you, Caitlin xx

  • Hi Caitlin.

Although im mindful of scaring you, I'm also someone who tells people things straight because I think acceptance is important. I've learnt this through the job I do - first aid trainer.

For me, what particularly resonated in your post was when you said you could only feel the lump when you stick your chest out. That is how I found mine to begin with. However, life and I won't say I'm wrong in saying this, work, got in the way of me seeing a doctor. Yes the lump was hard but it also moved.  I have also had shoulder pain for some time but I don't know if that is linked or not. All I know is it still hurts and is the same side as the cancer and that I'm now going to have the opportunity to have an MRI scan for it.

My story is such a long one and probably not one for on here. There is an option where we can message each other directly like you can on Facebook. I would prefer to do that then I'll give you my mob no if you want and we can do all the talking you feel like doing if it is the news you don't want.

    X

  • Sorry, forgot to add that I was also very tired all the time, got breathless and had hot flushes.

  • Hello, thanks for getting back to me. I've sent you a private message if that's ok xx
